Stock rotor Vs Girodisc....

Yep whacked on some temp indicators (just for fun & interest + match the Gulf blue perfect) but now that I don't have a full stock system it will be not apples 2 apples for comparison.

I do have a bolt on front cooling scoop diversion system and thats made a good difference for track use cooling. The rears as guys like Specracer know are a hot spot for more aggressive driving.

Im hoping today that I'll have a pair of 3D printed scoops going in the area of final section of air that would normally crash in to the rear wheel.
The air that would leave there I'm hoping to divert back/up & along the lower control arm and then in to the backside of rotor. Not much rotor showing back there for decent cooling and I need just enough space for the flex duct for tires lateral travel.

So here's the rears after a couple dozen (med/solid effort) laps yesterday at Sebring
Was an OPEN TRACK day so I had cars with serious pace hauling up into my mirror, but fun to watch them rip by (waved by)
IMG_4251.jpeg

The last half of my day was more "go" and temps went up a bit
So the bake to GOLD window temp/time starts in the 400f+ range.
I wonder what the rotor temps would be....

As I was on my last lap I was cursing around to cool things off ( car temps all day great) and I noticed it was taking longer to get below 200.
Decided to pull in to load up area and got out of car and noticed a rubbing/spinning sound from one of the radiators.
The good one was pushing to some decent hot air, but the other was more lame....hmm
The I looked more and noticed the a pass fan had come loose.
Now I have to dive in there and work out why its free.

Brembo on Masarati. They look very similar to the GT

Brembo will cast the name of the car manufacturer into their calipers.

05-06 Ford GT's have Aston Martin "wings" on them.

Finally added the Girodiscs to the rears... The OE rears had cracks that pushed me to upgrade

But rear piston seals look toast.......time to parts surf or just chat to local dealer.

Having a hard time finding out what caliper/s the GT uses.
I know it's Brembo but I don't know what the caliper/s part number/s are.

If your rear dust seals look like that, I'm sure mine are bad too, with 82,000 miles on them. I also would like to know the part numbers and where to get them.

The brakes came from the Aston-Martin parts bin. Look for the little wings on the calipers

Vantage caliper.
Looks the same as '03+ Viper (non-ACR). But Ford might have the lowest price for the seals.

Im measuring the piston sizes today.
So far I know the larger rear piston is 44mm wide so the general rule (info on Zeckhausen Racing site said) says is that boots will be 10mm larger (54mm would be the order size)
Not measured the smaller piston as I'm having trouble retracting the larger piston back in and getting the smaller one to pop out enough for width check.
On their site you can buy boots and boot/s seals to rebuild

Ive got a piston retraction tool coming today to help

I know the pads front and rear are the same size but are the calibers the same (I would think so as the pads seem to fit just as tight either end)?
Rotors aren't

Info on getting size right....

Here's what I think I need.
Expensive material....

I think the Ford dealer will be my option as I won't get them for 2 weeks with Zeckhausen

got 4 sets of these.

I upgraded to the high temp version.
Im guessing the stock stuff wasn't a high temp product.

Got quicker as I got each one done.
The 44mm boots seemed harder to seat.
The rear outer section of the caliper must get a bit hotter.

Thanks for reporting this. I ordered them tonight based on your research. So many parts are out of sight and need maintenance, this is good intelligence.

Street use cars would probably have no issues with rings/boots lasting for ages.

I ordered "high temp" version for a couple bucks extra + brake assembly lube.

Also ordered JoJoy brake caliber press to seat the new boots + a "4 uncles" brake bleeder/extractor/filler bottle that runs via compressor..... works like a champ.

Ive never done a brake fluid change (only ford dealer) and it was easy once you know order of brakes to bleed and order of brake nipples to start and finish at.

There are some other steps to take when doing this job to be wary of.

If you need any other info yell out.
