I always went out of my way to watch anything he was in. It started with Maverick, a whole bunch of movies, including Stalag 17 and Grand Prix, then back to TV with the Rockford Files, and all sorts of other movies and TV shows along the way.

Today I got an email (via Bondurant Racing school) of Bob's recolloction of "Jim". Bob was Garner's driving teacher for the movie. Here is a pointer

So long Brett Maverick!

That was a beautiful tribute by Bob. I was always fond of James Garner and his movies and shows, as well. Thanks for posting.

R.I.P. Mr. Garner.

Yeah I found out he passed on Saturday when they gave him a four minute tribute before the German Grand Prix started. He was a true gentleman and I never heard a bad word about him ever. Remember those great Kodak commercials. great movie Space Cowboys. Surprising when I read his bio when it came out where he stated he smoked pot for most of his adult life.

Met him once when he was here in Richmond shooting a TV movie. Could not have been nicer . To me, there is nothing better than a Rockford episode with Angel and Tom Selleck.

I never got to know him but Jim would often eat at our restaurant, Split-T, when he was home in Oklahoma City.

He was a stud in my book

I moved to Cali because of Rockford Files!
