Redline on new motor....

Whats your guess on the new V6 TT redline? Honestly I think this stat will make or break the car as far as performance. To compete with the other cars this thing needs to wind up. If its 11-12K, this thing will scream, sub 3 sec 0-60, will drive like f1 car. If its 8-9K, I think it may seem underwhelming compared to other offerings on the market. Regardless, it looks beautiful, but we all know the engine is what keeps that car in the garage longterm. Hope this ecobeast doesnt dissapoint. What do you think the number is? My guess is 12K. Praying for 14 :biggrin

Motor in the GT is very, very similar to the motor running the IMSA DP car. Those don't turn many RPMs, and definitely nowhere near 11k rpm. Good news is that you can do a lot more acoustic tuning with a street car so it should sound markedly better at full rip.

I don't think it will be a 600 HP car...I think probably closer to 700 once its done, unless they get weight well below 3000 lbs.

I would love to see the new GT with 700hp and weigh less than 3000 lbs. As far as what the redline will be, I will guess 8000.

I am thinking hybrid drive with 600hp is my guess. I just hope Ford can keep it in the low 200k mark, but it looks like it might be an LFA pricing. I sure hope not.

Well that's just the thing then isn't it. Supercar or no supercar? Coach works among today's modern supercars are just a matter of taste and a mix of cool exotic materials and techno whiz. For this version, it will certainly be all about the motor, it's build spec and how they map it. Of course a cool sound will help things a bit. Oh, and good luck on <3000 lbs.

No way a 3.6 6-banger will spin 9000-plus RPM. The reciprocating parts are too big and weigh too much. 8500 tops for the race engine, more like 7000 for the street car. The power will all be due to boost.

12C redlines at 8500 but its an FPC V-8. V-6s aren't known for their smoothnes (they need balancing weights) so I'm guessing this won't be an F1-type screamer! Probably 75-8000 max?

I asked a friend of mine that works at the IMSA races, and he says he can't say for privacy reasons, but does say that each engine at every race gets "equalized" with restrictors etc. So he can't give a number but did say "a lot".
