Recommended body and paint shop in DC area

Folks, two weeks ago I was in usual 4:00 traffic in Oakton VA, and a car in the oncoming lane turned left through stopped vehicles in the left lane, and crossed right in font of me. I needed about one more foot to stop than I had, so it was a small bump (but he's at fault). The front bumper/cover got scratched and bowed a little bit. Nothing else was bent or scratched. I need the front cover either repaired or replaced and repainted. Pic attached.

Yes, I know, Rich can do it, and if there was more damage, the GT Guy probably would be my first choice, but it's a pain in the butt to deal with transporting a car 700+ miles there and back for what appears to be minor repair. And I doubt USAA would be willing to pay for that transport.

Any good recommendations in the DC area?

Pete,

Sorry to hear that this happened to your GT.
John Turner is the owner of JT's Collision in Eldersburg MD.
He does excellent work and is very fair.

Pete, I'll bet you can get some good recommendations for shops close by just by talking to some guys at Katie's C&C. You don't need a GT specialist. Mark IV Red and white are easy matches.

Ron, thanks for the recommendation. Xcentric, yes I should ask around Katie's, however, that's pretty much shut down until the first nice early spring day--too cold and dark here now in the mornings. Maybe I'll "wear the scars of battle" while I figure out what to do. I won't be driving it much for the next couple months anyway.

One other thing to note: The clear bra seemed to deflect much of the scapes/scratches I expected. Once that is peeled off, the main scratch will be hard to see from 5 feet away. Another good reason to get it applied, for anyone still thinkin' about it.

Chris Li sent me a PM recommending a place called D&V Auto Body "Masters" west of Dulles Airport. They specialize in exotics and do not handle the regular domestic and foreign models. They also have a second shop, D&V Auto Body (not "Masters") in Sterling, for more pedestrian cars. So I went over today to check them out.

One of the techs used to work at a Ford dealer in Maryland and has done body work on several GTs. His name is Arthur. He knows the cars and could tell me details about what's under the front cover that you would only know if you've been in there before (like I have), and he understood the special requirements for working with the aluminum structure. There's a local Consumer Reports type of magazine in the DC area called Consumers Checkbook, and they rated the shop highest for quality, which reinforces my observations.

So, I decided to set up the date to drop it off to get it fixed. It also helps that the shop is an authorized USAA direct reimbursement shop. I'll post back here on how the job goes, but so far, it appears I'm dealing with someone who knows his stuff.

I asked Chris to give you a recommendation for a body shop. He is THE MAN in NoVA. If he doesn't know, he knows someone who knows. I believe his first toy as a baby was a GT40 model.

He still has it! And I mean the original toy. If you've ever been to his house, you know what I mean.
