already have the full racing exhaust, where is the best source for a pully and a tune? I am in NJ. Do i need a dyno tune or just a mail order one? what RWHP should I expect?

Contact Bob Ida at Ida Automotive in NJ. He has worked on many GT's and gets rave reviews. He can do the work with a dyno tune that will maximize your HP safely.

JDM Freehold NJ

JDM has tuned my GT and has done extensive modifications on my stock block Lightning. They know mod motors well and are converting GT aluminum blocks to wet sump for installation in Lightnings. I would highly recommend them.

I bet they don't have a Lightning that has 1000 rwhp, twin turbo, and did 167 mph in the standing mile as Bob Ida's Frightning has done.

But its great that there are two sources in central NJ

My car is at idas shop, dropped it off tues night, picking it up tonight :cheers

Rob, I would love to hear your comments after you experience the results of the work Bob is doing for you.

Did you get a chance to see Ida's Willys, Tucker or Frightning?
I heard they detuned the Frightning down to “only” 1,000 rwhp!
The previous way they had the Frightning set up the power spiked way above 1,000 and the car almost jumped off the dyno! Just an incredible shop.

BTW: Ida Automtove’s GT exhaust is baffled and the sound is very desirable without the droning or booming other cars exhibit with their aftermarket exhaust. Plus Bob now has data showing his baffled exhaust does not give up any significant power when compared even to the Ford cat delete open race exhaust system. Nice to see the hours his shop spent on design and discovery have found the ideal solution. http://www.perfectpowerusa.citymax.com/page/page/3095644.htm
Can’t recommend a better shop.

got the car back tonight, 617 rwhp, car felt good taking it homeexcept it felt sluggish in the top of 4th 140-150ish, going to change the clutch tomorrow morning before the rally leaves times square sat morning. Bobs shop was nice and he gave me a tour of the place, I would reccomend doing business with him.

617HP with full racing exhaust, pully and a tune??? Thought that would have been at least 50HP more than that...

you are right, that should be more.... Rob, you sure you went to a good tuner ??
Maybe recheck the values..

Not knowing all the particulars of these mods (pulley, exhaust, tune), I would say that those HP numbers are probalby right where they should be. Changing the pulley may increase the boost (PSI) but it can still only pump a certain volume (CFM) through any restriction in front of the supercharger. A better flowing throttle body would help in this regard, but not 50 HP worth. Engines don't run on boost (12#, 15#, etc.), they run on how much air you can push through them (volume). Boost numbers are really a description of how much back pressure there is in the intake manifold, measured between the output side of the blower and the closed intake valves.

When you say "tune", what exactly was done to the computer?

I’ve run my car without cats and an open exhaust. This set up does not add significant HP when compared to Bob Ida’s exhaust coupled to the stock cats (+ or - 10to15 HP). Not possible to get 50 HP in comparison to Bob’s system!
However, in my opinion an open exhaust (without cats) / FRPP race exhaust require ear plugs!
It’s that loud!
Bob’s exhaust coupled to the stock cats is every day drivable and you are not giving up squat in HP or Torque.

Seems Bob Ida’s GT exhaust has been patent pending since before it was released to the public. Makes sense since it was well tested, thought out and does the job.

Check out the September Hot Rod magazine once it’s released too!

PS: Thanks Bob for all your hard work and a fantastic system!

Which size pulley, smaller pulley = more boost = more power, usually.
