Palm Beach Super Car Photos

The Palm Beach Super car Weekend was a great event ! Hundreds of fantastic Automobiles. I hooked up with a fairly new forum member and great car guy ( JK GT ) for the ride up. As I drove up to the meeting place I knew I would like him because he has a beautiful 40th Anv.Tungsten w/ stripes !!
Being a first timer to the event and not knowing what to expect We arrived early. They put us of to the side while they brought in a bunch of dealer cars.
While were we waiting curb side an older gentleman in a Genuine Ferrari P3 race car was staged behind us. After he got out of his car I told him jokingly that at least the cars were in the proper order (The GT's first with him behind ) He had a puzzled look on his face...:biggrin

The GT highlights were the two Tungsten GT's side by side in front of the beautiful water setting. Jim Glikenhaus had brought down an original GT 40 Mark IV that was driven by Bruce McClaren & Mark Donahue. This car has 40k road miles since being retired from it's race days. It still has the original block and tranny !! Jim was around to tell about all of the details of the car. He is a very personable Guy..

I love Jim's Mark IV #2.. (J6 I think). I believe he even installed A/C to improve driver comfort... a tight fit I'll assume.

Great pics.

You all know I'm one of the biggest GT fanatics out there but this next car is Unreal. There were some real rare cars there: Enzo's, FXX's , MC 12's, MC 12 Racer, McClaren F1, Bugatti's, SLR's but the next car was the ultimate Car !! The best I've ever seen period.
I've seen it magazines but like the Ford GT you need to walk around the car to feel it's presents and appreciate the scale and the lines. This is the Jim Glikenhaus , I bought and Enzo and skinned it for parts and had the boys at Pina Farina build this one off super car. Like the GT it's a modern recreation of the old P3 Ferrari race car. It's called the P4/ P5. He has $ 4 million bucks in this thing !! If you've ever seen it you know If you get a chance to see it make sure you do !! :thumbsup

I don't think that that is a 'real' P3. I think it is a Norwood P4...which I want/need! :thumbsup

I had read the story of that Ferrari too. Awesome car, awful looking centerlock wheels.

Thanks for sharing the pics. It looks like you had a blast!

Not to nit pick, but after $4mil I think there must be a better way to prop the rear Clam on that Beautiful Machine. Somehow that thing they are using reminds me of a long squeege.:bored

Thanks for the pics. I've never met him but anyone that would drive a GT Mark IV on the street must be an OK guy. You were very lucky to see the car up close and personal. I'll never forget the first time I saw the Gurney/Foyt Mark IV at the Henry Ford Museum.

Why are the Goodyear raised white letters mounted on the inside of the wheels of the Mark IV?? I thought Goodyear sponsored some of the Le Mans races?

I still have a pic of myself in front Mk IV at the HF Museum my Dad took when I was 8 or 9. That is some ride!

I also believe its the Norwood P4 in Belgian racing colors. The actual number of surviving cars has always been disputed including if any true originals still exist. I believe the Ferrari owner's club has certified one as being originial.

Still one of the prettiest cars ever made, IMHO. My first slot car was rebodied as a P4 and I still have it. Along with the 250 GTO my 2 most desirable cars.
