How do I open the door on a 2006 Ford GT with no power? I took out the battery to replace it and the latch to open the front hood/compartment is not working.

I've never tried, but apparently the door can be opened with the key, as in the key actually releases the latch, albeit with some effort https://www.fordgtforum.com/forums/threads/need-help-to-open-the-door.21005/

I did open one mechanically with the key on one of our Ford owned GTs in our garage. It was very hard but it opened. I thought the ley was going to break

Try pushing the door further closed while operating the key. That should take some of the pressure off the latch mechanism.
