It appears every major automaker is resurrecting a 60'/70s/80s super-car:

-Lotus Espirit
-Daimler Benz '09 Gullwing
-Lambo Miura
-Audi (Gallardo) clone
:eek

Cruising thru blogs, it appears some AMC/AMX gurus are trying to lobby Daimler Chrysler for a retro AMX/2 or AMX/3.

For those of you who never saw these, they were aimed at the Pantera & Mangusta, and other super cars of the time. Lineage is not bad: Bizzarini designed, with BMW designed/sourced suspension and ZF tranny. only 7 ever made.

I love the lines, and given the retro-craze, think Dr. Z at Daimler might have an interest.

Oddly lines are not that different than GTs.

While the Challenger & Vipers rock; I think daimler need a super-car to tap all the retro craze.

Anyone have a contact or email for Daimler/Mopar Special Projects etc.

AMX/3

The AMX/3 was quite a good looking car. Several of the running prototypes lived in the Detroit area in the early 70's. Dick Teague's son brought one to an early Cobra Club event in Franklin, MI in 1975:

The guy hosting the event, Phil DiMambro, owned a 427 Cobra and a Pantera, so we had an opportunity to closely compare the Ford and AMC mid-engine cars side-by-side:

Too bad AMC was not able to make production with it.

I'll admit it's odd, but 4 turbos on a v12 and AWD would have been interesting.

I saw one at the Pasadena Art Center College's summer show for the first time in '05. Pretty sweet, especially for it's day.

The following year's show they had a couple GT's to show off.

Cool car which I don't recall having ever seen before.

Looks kinda like that sloped nose 1971 (72?) Torino that was never built
