I finally have seen all the cars from America's top three and it's been a hard choice on which one I like best. My reactions. were very similar to the mags.

Ford GT:
Back last year I stopped by Sam's house and got the unexpected view of a Ford GT. Couldn't be happier with seeing it since I was the first of many friends to actually see one up close in person and seen 2 others on the road before. Absolutely outstanding car and for the exclusivity I would diffently want one.

viper SRT coupe:
More recently, back in January I stopped at a friends dealership to get a upclose view of the new viper SRT coupe. A great update from the previous SRT-10 and with the coupe it's alot better. The SRT-10 didn't cut it for me but the SRT coupe made me get that F-16 cockpit feeling I always get in a Gen I/II but the exterior is still not as strong as it use to be.

C6 ZO6:
Now today I spotted my first C6 Z06. Coming up the road in the on coming lane in bright yellow, there was no way I could miss the thing. The Z06 looked mean and for the first time in 11 years I can say with a cringe, "It looks better than the viper". It seemed as if the car was eating the ground and ready to pounce on anything.

So here's what I think about the exterior styling.
1.C6 Z06
2.Ford GT
3.viper SRT coupe

So yeah there you have it. The next test for me will obviously be ride and handling. HOPEFULLY I'll be able to experince all three in the near future.

A friend and I were leaving a restaurant after a bite and we walked up to my red GT and his silver 06 Z06. He just stood and staired for about 30 sec at the GT and then whimpered "how do you not leave a wet spot in your shorts every time you look at that thing".

If you want the attention and envy of every Chevrolet and Corvette salesperson, pull into a Chevrolet Dealer's lot with your GT. Anyone who likes the exterior styling of a Z06 over a GT should not even consider anything other than a Z06...there are very few of you "out there", literally and figuratively.

quick story
last oct went to my normal yearly end of the year corvette show(usually take one of my vettes). this year i surprised everyone with my gt
they actually let me put the gt in the middle of the car show amoung 300 or more vettes.
near to where they parked me a dealer had set up all the new c6's with the brand new zo6 as the main attraction.
once i pulled in and parked, everyone left the zo6 display and came around the gt
a million questions, pictures and praises
the reps from the corvette dealership got so pissed, that they left with all their new cars.
gotta tell ya, love vettes, but the zo6 looks ancient in design compaired to the gt.
had the gt not been made, i would have had the zo6 in my garage with my other toys, but i feel the gt blows it away in looks, rarity and novelty
just my opinion

If you like the looks of Z06 better, by all mean buy it. I was thinking of getting one too, but when I sat in a GT I knew it was the car I wanted. I had a Vette before and the Z06 is the best one GM has build to date. But in the end it would look that the 1000s of other Vette we all see on the road every day. I haven't seen a GT on the road yet, other than my own!

In the handling dept. I the hands of a skillful driver there will be very little performance difference between the two cars in stock trim. I doubt any of us on this board would tweak every ounce of performance from either car. Driver skill will make much more of a difference. I have driven a 2006 standard Vette and it has a Cadillac style numbness to the steering. I goes where you want it to, but you have to believe that it will do it. Very little feedback on what the tires are doing. The GT torque curve is as wide as the Grand Canyon, it just pulls throughout the rpm range. The Z06 will have to be wound a higher to get it to really move.

I also believe modifying the GT for higher output will be easier than with the Z06. Just put in a new pulley and re-flash the cpu and get 650+ hp to the rear wheels.
