Non operating fuel gauge and sensor

I am writing this post from Australia, with some news most owners of a 2005 Ford GT Supercar may or may not Know, there are no New parts available for these vehicles and I have yet to find a Stockist of NOS parts. but I fortunately have stumbled on to most of the parts needed.
I started this quest for causes and cure for non functioning Fuel Gauge , finally removing the Fuel tank after exhausting all external possible causes, and found fuel contamination has coated the inside of tank with a carbon coating and rust evident on fuel pumps but most alarming the gauze filters on the inlets were full of a solid mud like substance, the fuel level sensor ( which appears to be a pressure sensor was totally gummed up and open circuited as well as wiring insulation was cracked and crumbling. I found a fuel level sensor at Dunham Engineering LLC. who were most helpful. BUT the only fuel pump replacement I can find are incorrect. Outlet 1mm too big and no barb on outlet to stop hose popping off also having trouble locating fuel hose to suit. Can anyone suggest a supplier who may have NOS pumps and internal tank hoses. This car has only 5000 kms on speedo So I recommend regular tank drain and Flush
thank you Regards Grumpy Mechanic Australia

Grumpy, did you get a car that was flood damaged? Reviewing your previous posts seems like you know about replacing the gauges. You might review the previous posts here about upgrading the fuel system when installing larger Whipple superchargers to increase fuel flow. I thought Australia was very stringent on cars being converted to right hand drive?

Hi fjpikul, yes this car has been converted to RHD, and NO its never been in a flood, the varnish in tank was carbon based,I kept the fuel from the tank in a 12 gallon drum and when I removed the lid to decant some fuel noticed the galvanized screw cap of drum was starting to look like the fuel pumps . I will find a 12 yr old and post some photos. regards GM

Looking at a 2006 pump, it looks to me that the hose may be on the pump outlet without a barb. There may be a outlet barb but I don't readily see it with the hose on. The hose may may need to be heated to slip over the outlet and then on mine the hose is secured with an oetiker clamp. I purchased a couple of Walbro F10000302 pumps, New quick connect fittings and hoses which definitely need heated and pressed on (dorman makes a tool). I have yet to assemble and install the new pumps. I purchased the new connectors and hoses because I do not want to reuse my old ones. The hose I purchased is longer than the old hose. Since I have yet to install, I don't know if the hoses are going to be a problem.

Please start a thread on your project. Pictures would be great too.

Just a thought. Several Mustang owners upgraded to Ford GT pumps in the day. You could post a request for parts on the Mustang forums.
I located hoses by searching by inch diameter and then a few hours of sorting through the results for a close length match. Unfortunately I don't remember the vendor.

What does the fuel filter from the engine bay look like?

Not only does the pump have to look physically right, I believe it has to be compatible with the computers existing fuel tables unless you can get Torrie or someone to match it up. I could be wrong about that though.

Beware... If you order

Dorman 801-600 Fuel Line Repair Tech Tray

from Amazon for $139 then all you get is the case with all of the bins empty. Apparently Dorman has two versions of the 800-600 and Amazon has them confused according to Dorman. Amazon sends 801-600TRAY which is $45 instead of the correct 800-600. Even on the page for 801-600TRAY the picture is of the 801-600.
