Saw this nice vintage leather Gulf jacket over the weekend and snapped a quick pic of it on the rack......I figured the jacket would look better like that than on me. :wink

It also had Lemans stiched in Red along the back of the collar. Did the original GT-40's have Firestone rubber??

The original actually didnt exist. It was just the top half of Nomex racing suit.

Lots of people make these for $99 on ebay to $100s

These two seem to have good ones

The only real jacket from the movie or races is the Orange nylon Gulf and the Navy Nylon/wool Gulf jackets

Ford wanted to get the best drivers for the GT40's, but most Americans were under tire contracts with either Firestone or Goodyear. In order to get them all, Ford used Shelby American which was under Goodyear contract, and Holman & Moody which was contracted to Firestone. Thus, they could sign up the drivers they wanted, and, depending upon their allegience, they would be assigned into one of the two racing organizations.

A 3rd organization, Alan Mann Racing, was also supported by Ford, but I'm not sure what tires they ran on. Their colors were red and gold.
