New Tungston Owner

I posted a thread in mid June, as I thought I was going to be a new owner of a Tungston GT.

After much encouragement from this group, the deal went south. It was a total price deal at 160 (all options), which you all seemed to think was a pretty good deal.

The dealer "xxxxx" me at the 11th hour, so I was without a GT.

But, I didn't give up. I then decided not to bore you all with "maybe's", so I waited until I was 100% sure I had a deal before posting again.

Well, the good news is, I have a deal:

The car is perfect, 9 miles, and I couldn't be happier.

Observations:

Rides a little rough. I expected that. I like the firmness. Afterall, how could you put a mushy suspension on a car that can meet or exceed 200 mph.

Paint quality is way above what I expected. Being a paint specialist, I wasn't totally convinced Ford could do paint that well. They did!

Visibility out the rear sucks. But, hey, I knew that. I'll check the mirrors very carefully before changing lanes, right?

You need 45 inch door clearance to get out of the car. Well, I knew that too, so, luckily, I have the garage space.

The car could perhaps use some carpet, or something, well, maybe not. From what I can see, it's a race car, who need those plush carpets anyway.

Now, the big problem is, patience to break it in. As a car collector, I don't drive any of my cars too much, so it may be awhile before I can "give it the gas".

Anyway, this forum is great. I learned so much about these cars before I jumped off the cliff, and I appreciate each and every one of you that have posted regularly on this forum.

And last thing, I get to be listed as an owner now?

Thanks all.

Welcome aboard Bill Proud Gt Owner, how many miles are you going to do to break the car in?

Bill,

Congratulations!!! It seems that many of us have not had an easy time acquiring our cars but persistence pays off. Glad you stayed with it, obviously you knew what you wanted and you were determined. Enjoy whether you're driving or just looking at it!

Welcome to the club... :biggrin

Congrats on the new addition Bill. Love the colour & options you picked :thumbsup :biggrin

Congrats :cheers and welcome aboard! Best color combo in my book but of course I'm a little prejudice, I have the same except with the gray calipers.
Good luck and drive it well....BD40

Congrats and welcome! No better color IMO! Keep it between the borrow ditches!

Well, I not sure. So far, at less than 50 miles, I've kept it really mild, but the right foot is wanting to check it out. I'll try to keep it pretty mild for about 500 miles, as I intend to keep this car a long time, and certainly don't want to cause any problems. Any other thoughts on the break in issue?
