Saw this pic described as John Forces' new funny car engine. FORD is written all over it - question is did FORD have anything to do with the design and manufacture of this engine?

Of course, it has a Ford label on it. That is the only part I know is from Ford.

If it is a real fuel motor ready to be dropped into his Funny car It's most likely a Keith Black Hemi. If so, I'm curious as to how they feel over at Mopar having Ford stamped all over their motor design.

'Black, Donovan, Rodeck, Arias - who knows.

Drag racing was 'more gooder' for the fans when there were actually REAL cammers, 'n' rats, 'n' elephants "between the rails" in any class 'far as I'm concerned...

It's been a few years sense I wrenched on a fueler, but those motors all had their niche. Fuelers ran mostly KB's with many different head combinations, Anderson, KB, Dart etc. Arias were the kings of Alcohol due to how well the heads flowed and a ton Donovan and Rodeck blocks were used in the Pro Gasser ranks. Then you had the bracket and "run what ya brung" guys that would pour nitro in anything in hopes to make up for a lack of deep pocket parts on their cars. So very fun and entertaining times.

Although the designs are similiar the word on the street, er, track is that it is John Force, Ford, and a few others that have been working on this.

This upcoming year there will be a Top fuel Funny Car (Mustang) testing this engine combination and if all goes well Ashley then John will run it the following year.

That is Marty Cott (works the Ford Racing tech line) in the photo and he is talking to me. But this is the first of a new John Force Motors we were all very nervous to see them display the real thing.
