New Billet Vents - paint or powder coat?

Well guys, I have a question. I have been searching the forum and can find a solid answer to my question.

I have some new billet vents on the way and want to make them the same color blue as the blue stripes on my 2005 white car. I have read that powder coating them this exact blue color is hard to do. I also read some don't have good luck painting the aluminum vents. What should I do? What have others done with blue stripe cars with the billet vents? I need your experienced opinions please...:confused

If you are going to paint aluminum:
1. Clean item with a mild acidic acid
2. Prime with zinc chromate
3. Color prime
4. Paint away.

Paint will hold just fine to aluminum using this process.

Powder coating is not an option? Anyone done this and if so how did you match the color?
 
Send them to Shadowman & he will have them powdercoated correctly - Bill has done this and his powdercoater has the correct formulations. Send him a PM.
 
My white, ShadowMan powdercoated vents are wonderful. You need to talk to him.
 
fyi..white / blue naked billet looks bitchin :thumbsup
 
powder coat works extremely well on aluminum (except for clear only as the coil covers which will show the trapped gases under the clear). the durability is much greater and the heat will not effect it or discolor it after time.
