My FRP transaxle cooler arrived without instructions. I managed to get it installed and even managed to get the fittings to stop leaking but I would like to know the torque specs on the bolts that hold the cooler to the brackets (the ones that go through the rubber dunuts). Thanks in advance for any help or suggestions.

Attached are the installation instructions...

I prefer Buna-N O-rings in place of using the original washers for sealing.

Those instructions don't tell you the torque values for the bolts attaching the cooler to the frame. You can use the attached calculator to determine the torque value for this application.

Remember, you are securing thie cooler into aluminum, so it's easy to over torque the bolts and strip the threads.

Actually the bolts in question go through rubber washers and then to nuts. I assume that the torque is the same 18lb/ft as on a similiar application on the radiator but it seems too tight as the rubber washers are almost fully compressed.

Interesting. My Ford cooler came with the radiator and mounting bracket preassembled so I didn't touch that part. All I had to do is attach the mounting bracket to the vehicle frame with three bolts with no rubber washers. Also the small clamp that attaches the two steel hoses to the frame also did not come with a rubber washer for attaching the hoses to the frame. Maybe he is talking about the rubber washers that attach the radiator to the mounting bracket as those have rubber washers, but I didn't have to touch those. Looks like maybe I guessed wrong. :-)

Mine came assembled too but the nuts where only finger tight and they are not lock nuts so they would have vibrated off by themselves very quickly. The picture in the manual of how the radiator attaches looks the same and calls for 18lb/ft which seems reasonable.

Its a beautiful day here and I am going for a drive!
