If any Forum Members are planning a trip to Monaco the first week of May 2008 for the "Historique's", the famous street race through Monaco prior to the fantastic F1 races, this absolutely is a once-in-a-lifetime experience for any aficionado; something not to be missed!
I enjoy a spectacular villa on a cliff overlooking the sea in Roquebrun, 10 minutes on the coast from downtown Monaco, easily accessible by (inexpensive and rapid) commuter trains.
There's beer and wine in the fridge.
PM me if you decide that you'll be in Monaco.
Did I mention that there's beer and wine in the fridge?
Best,
Paul

Sounds very nice...

I did the Monaco GP in 2006......

It is a once in a life time event.......unlike any other GP as the cars are like 6 feet from your head.

Not for the faint of heart or wallet......set me back $8k for 3 day weekend. Although as the tour operator (who I did not go with) said life is ""not a dress rehearsal: you dont want to tell your grand kids I went to Monaco but actually took a 45 minute bus everyday and stayed in Nice!"

Reminded me of that Harley ad where Gramps tells the Kids he almost got a Harley (and they gather all close) but decided to go with Aluminum siding in stead....

Hey, what's wrong with Nice?

Yep...Monaco can be expensive, especially with the bashing the dollar has been taking. Fortunately, we have local knowledge, which keeps that sort of a sting to a dull roar.
You're correct in the statement that Monaco, the Historic Racing and the Formula ! are a once in a lifetime experiences, never mind the amazing people-watching. We seem to do this thing every year, but what the hell, that's immaturity for you!
When I'm at that point that I'm on the wrong side of the grass. I'll be laughing long and loud at those relatives still waiting by their mailboxes for that inheritance check to come.

I have been several times, covered the Coys and Bonhams auctions as well for Car Collector.
Steve Austin has a great tour including the Mille Miglia,... Monaco is very special.
Staying at the Beach Resort which is the headquarters for the F team is neat, they travel to and from the pits with their own water taxi.
Ok, so what is the deal, extra bedrooms at your villa? I will bring the MAKERS MARK, don't drink a lot of beer, but I do sell tankers of it..!!

Anyone going to Retroauto in Paris

Its the Biggest Classic show in Europe ( 33 yrs)?

Feb 13-17

Beds are all 'way spoken for at the villa...perhaps a chaise longue by the pool-side cabana?
Also am doing Brescia and the Mille Miglia late on. Now that is very cool.
PM me if you need recomendations on places to stay and I'll see if I can put something together that might make sense for you. There'll still be beer and wine in the fridge. Monagasques probably know about Maker's Mark, too.
