max boost 10 psi? I hate fish and this smells fishy.

Guys,

what's the likelyhood of belt slip? My GT (new to me) has 26k on the clock. Im seeing about 10 psi on the boost gauge. Admittedly its a real quick glance as i'm close to redline. But it seems like the needle is far shy of the 12.5 psi i've heard mentioned as a stock level.

Other than belt slip... anyone else out there had low boost issues, and if so what was the result with regards to troubleshooting? I've got my 2.7" custom pulley ready to go on, but was wondering about this since i just noticed it the other day.

gerry

I haven't heard of any boost leak issues from the factory but if the SC has been off the car before, all bets are off. If your butt-dyno says its fast, odds are the boost gauge is wrong. If the belt is slipping you should see black powder around the SC snout. Besides hooking up a tester to the manifold line or a dyno, I don't know how you would know for sure.

Gerry - I have a boost gauge we can hook up & compare to the oe unit

I am not sure if stock blower has been removed. Jeff noticed an aftermarket fuel gauge and mystery vvacuum line the day I bought the car. I'm sure someone with jeff s experience can help steer me straight...and I'll post up results as they appear. With any luck its nothing..

well as a *slight* update..

i had a friend do a ride along with me keeping an eyeball on the boost gauge whilst i provided full depression on the "go faster" pedal. He said the gauge seems to hit about 11.25 or so before settling down to 10.5ish.

Most definitely (he states) not 12.5lbs... at least not on the stock readout.

I hooked in my OBD2 reader I use quite successfully on my RS6 and NSX. I was puzzled in that it couldn't communicate at all. In my audi, it enables me to do a full diagnostic, including cycling EVERY single module oin the car
including balancing the headlights, testing the radio, checking the auto door locks, ignition system etc...
in the nsx it lets me check boost pressure, timing, speed, rpm, coolant temps, intake temps etc...

on the FGT... nada!!
