Is your garage floor an "ugly betty"?

Hey not to slam your floors; but i have perused many of the garage shots, most of you live in castles and with the exception of a few; most of you have "ugly betty" floors :lol (generic concrete, stains, discoloration, etc).

Your GT deserves better; and it make your car appear 25% hotter (ie, reflection of light, contrast of color, keeps dirt, dust, contaminants nowhere to accumulate.

Dont fear so did i; for $400 you can look like Jay Lenos hangar. :biggrin

Solution: use U-COAT-IT grey epoxy floor covering. The medium grey and polyurethane top coat are an excellent product.

-Its advertised in all major car mags

-Prep is powerwash; then muriatic acid.

-it takes 3 days (base/top coat @12hrs, poly) to put down (smell is very stong for 1st day :eek ; then odorless) and 7 days to cure (yup 7 days unless you want your leather to smell toxic fo 99yrs)

-easy installation kit with video, gloves, coveralls, etc

-Its like glass once done

-Also, the polyurethane acts like a vapor/moisture barrier from below; even has a hygroscopic psi rating (wont stop seepage or leaks up though) but enough to keep bone dry from cold/dampness.

-Superior to Griots, home drpot $60 stuff :thumbsdow

-test by a GT owner with hot tires; turn in place; stood for 21 days :ack , etc

Here's my ugly betty floor.

It'll be much nicer in a couple days when the GT graces it...

Good one Syco!

Mine has racedeck flooring, however due to some incontinent Aston Martins, it's doesn't look quite so 'surgical' anymore.

Garage

Syco,

VERY nice garage. The GT will be a nice finishing touch...
Looks like you may have been at RennSport in 2004?

Gordo.

Hope my wife does't see this. :eek I can't even see my floor for all the machinery. :ack

Full salute

To be fair, that picture was taken right after the coating was done. There is one more parking space that has my workbench, shelves, and tools, and used to be the home of my R1100S BCR (#3 of 300) before I sold it.

So, of course, there are cars and shelves and other stuff in the garage today. I used to work in the motorcycle industry, so I have more posters than I could possibly put up, but I've been meaning to get to it someday soon.

I love the coating. I've done it myself before, but this time I had the pro's do it. Great stuff. Easy to keep clean too. And makes it easy to lie on the floor amytime, when looking under the cars.

Syco - very nice photo. Is the coating shown the "U-coat It" material? How many coats? any 'anti-slip' grit added?, clear final coat? I just visited 'U-Coat-it" store today and it seems to be a good product.

Being that I am a poor dirt farmer in Chowtown we don't have all that fancy stuff. I'm just happy I've got a GT to do my field checking in. Theres nothing like throwing the shovel in the passenger side and going out to check water at 4am in the morning. I just love it. :biggrin

yeah,.. I haul my hay bailing machine behind my GT for some acreage that I dry farm :bs :bs

It has the anti-slip grit. Otherwise, after it rains, my wife would take her Cayenne S through the rear firewall.

I can't say whether it was U-Coat-It or not, since I didn't do this application, most likely a commercial grade product. I think about 3 thin coats.

I had the epoxy and poly coat done on my house when I moved in. There were a couple minor chips, with no flaking, and they attempted to color match them, but were not able to effectively come close in color. It seems the original color was no longer available.

So, they offered to re-epoxy and poly coat. They sanded down the original coating and this is the result (see original picture near start of thread)

I have had epoxy coated floors in my last two homes and never had any evidence of any peeling or chipping. In defense of the coating, between my wife and I, we operate two 4WD SUV's, which are used off road for recreational and business activities, and sometimes they come home with little pebbles in the all terrain treads, which last until I pick them out with a needle nose. The chipping occured only in the areas where the tires appear to rest, but there was no chipping under my M5's tires. However, they did say that the original installation was not very good, and that the person who applied that light coating has since been fired. The new job looks much better.

this one is for you....
A farmer owned a small grain farm and cattle ranch in Fresno County. The Human
Resources agency claimed he was not paying proper wages to his help and sent an
agent out to interview him.

"I need a list of your employees and how much you pay them," demanded the
agent.

"Well," replied the farmer, "there's my ranch hand who's been with me for
3 years. I pay him $600 a week plus free room and board.

The cook has been here for 18 months, and I pay her $500 per week plus
free room and board.

Then there's the half-wit who works here about 18 hours every day and does
about 90% of all the work around here. He makes $10 per week, and I buy
him a bottle of Seagram's VO every Saturday night."

"That's the guy I want to talk to -- the half-wit," says the agent.

"That would be me," replied the farmer.

:banana :rofl :banana

Can I ever relate to this one.:bang

Woohoo!

I did a major improvement to my garage today.

Delivered expertly by Peter Black of Thomas Sunday, from Pennsylvania.

Just 3 miles on the odometer! Soon to be many more than that...

How slippery when wet is it?

Does it pull up when you pull in with really hot tires?

It definitely does not pull up with hot tires. Years ago, when I applied it myself to a different garage, with off the shelf product, we did have initial pull up. But this is commercial grade, professionally prepped and applied.

It has the grit, so mine does not seem overly slippery, in my personal opinion.
