Shows how hard life was then. Notice all the kids with no shoes.

Fabulous photos, I thought everything was in black and white in the 1940's.

Interesting expressions on the faces of the people.

I though the last picture of the guy with black soot on his face with a cigaret was interesting. I wonder when he died of mesothelioma?

Couldn't have............the class action suit had not been developed yet.

There are some remarkable photos here. The last one is outstanding. All of them are slides and I'm betting all are Kodachrome. What a remarkable film. The digitization and a little Photoshop work didn't hurt them any. I'm scanning all of my slides and negatives (a year+ project, some where around 30000 images) and smile each time I pull a roll of Kodachrome slides. I have some from the early 70s that look like they were taken yesterday. Ektachrome needs "help".

Very hard times back then and very different lives....... Over here we were at war, soon to be joined by the USA.

I wonder how the lives for the black cotton pickers were back then? Pretty grim I should imagine.

I find old photography quite fascinating. In the same way when you look at a painting from, say, the mid 1400's and know that it was painted from life (i.e. the subject was sitting in front of the painter).

Very interesting set of pictures. Thanks for the link.
