Anyone know a simple, non-altering way to change the cigarette lighter from always on to 'Accessory' mode? You know, so it only works with the key on.

I know it's built to be on all the time for the trickle charger, but I always forget to unplug my ipod or nav and end up running the battery out when she sits for a couple weeks.

A non-altering way to change the present operation of the receptacle; NO those two options do not play well together.

However I feel certain that you could remove the constant hot lead and replace it with a switch 12 volt power lead. I do not think that it would be terribly difficult however would it make more sense (IMO yes) to create a tuck away pig tail receptacle for example in the passenger foot well area and then you could plug your devices in and not have the power cord routed over the console and this way you would also retain the OEM function of the existing receptacle?

Behind the passenger access panel at the foot resting location power should be very easy to access

Just a thought

Well, my IPod is mounted via the cig lighter so installing a second one doesn't really help.

Maybe a battery saver thing would work, where power is cut if the battery gets low. But then I have reset the radio and all.

Sometimes life is just too stinkin' hard :willy
