How do you get in your car?

Just curious how other guys get in the car.

There are basically two ways to enter.

One is to sit on the seat, then rotate your legs in being careful not to scratch the sill. Easy, but puts a twisting motion on the seat bottom.

The other is to step in and slide down the seat.

I normally do the first, but decided to try the second. Doing the second way I must have pushed against the seat belt and it made a stretch / scratch on the seat like it was trying to poke a hole :eek (so be careful if you go that way).

How do you guys get in?

'Put right foot into foot well, bend left knee, swing butt over the seat, sit down, bring left foot in - place it in foot well & Bob's yur uncle. (Doubt anybody taller than me [5'-8"] could DO it that way and clear the steering column/wheel though.)

(Sometimes 'need to put hands on 'console & door sill to lift butt off 'seat to reposition.)

1827 just posted a little detail I'd forgottn to mention! Ya! I ALWAYS SLIDE THE SEAT ALL THE WAY BACK upon EXIT so that the seat is automatically all the way back when I get in!!!!! The seat needs to be all the way back upon entry! If THAT little detail isn't followed, getting in is a real hastle! (The world's lucky I don't write instruction manuals...)

I'm 6' 2" and that's EXACTLY how I get in. To get out, I put my left hand on the door sill, carefully slide my left foot out and carefully stand up, avoiding knocking myself out on the door.

To put my pants on, I carefully put my left leg....oh that's a different thread.:biggrin

I'm about the same height as Texas and I do exactly the same in all cars... right foot in etc.

Pants? I have my wife hold them open at the bottom of the stairs.......

When our first GT was delivered (I work at a Ford dealer) by Reliable Carriers, the carrier driver gave us some "simple" rules, including:
- Put the seat all the way back to get in and out
- Don't smash your face on the door overhang

I usually do the butt-drop/leg-swing thing, holding the steering wheel with my left hand. I had to break myself of the habit of holding the keys in my left hand; they cut the steering wheel leather.

Getting out's easy. At 5'9", I don't put the seat back, I do the swivel thing.

And I kept the plastic protector on the lower door panel....

I left mine on the passenger side but I trust myself enough to remove it on the driver side. So far I have been proven right.
