Houston guys,

Lambo of Houston is doing a run this saturday morning. A bunch of my Cobra buddies are doing it and I am trying to arrange my schedule and take the GT. They are meeting Sat. morning around 7 am at Lambo on 45 and driving up thru the Sam Houston Forest. If you tired of sitting around the house and looking for something to do this maybe it.

Shadowman, I should be flogged!!! Forgot my camera!!! Sorry! But here is a brief overview.

Well, They aren't the Ford GT Rally guys but they do have a spirited get together. We met at Lambo of Houston this morning, I had the time wrong and showed up an hour early, and had coffee and donuts. Me, My son Logan, John Hennessey and a local Cobra buddy were the first there. We toured the facility and all the neat cars in the back warehouse. WOW!!! I would love one of his Saleen S7's. Only car that I would give up the GT for. About 8 - 8:15 The Ferrari and Lambo guys started to show up. Nice asst. of all those. Countach to Testarossa and everything in-between. We left pretty promptly at nine. We headed north on HWY 45 with about 30-35 cars. The Cobra buddy was a couple cars behind me and I swear I could see his teeth chattering from there. 38 degrees at nine am. 80-90 mph on Hwy 45 and just cruising. Took Loop 336 into Conroe. First Ferrari stopped there for no front tag. Got a ticket!!! I counted 25 other cars without one but he was the first. Took the route up thru the Sam Houston Forest to Anderson. We stopped for Potty break, All that coffee, and then proceeded on. I lost my Cobra buddy at this point. I do not know if he turned around, froze to death or broke down. Most of these guys are pretty smart drivers but a couple were passing in stupid places. A Lambo Murcilago wanted to play with the Ford Gt and decided after the first blast onto Hwy 6 from the service road that Maybe the 700 RWHP wasn't something he could deal with. Those things are wicked in the corners but underpowered on the straights, as measured up to the GT. As a special treat one of the guys new someone at Texas World Speedway so they let us in to play for a couple of hours. They were letting three groups go onto the track 10-11 cars at a time for 4 laps. I assumed we would be doing slow parade laps since there were no helments, ambulance, corner workers, safety equipment or anything. You could even take a passenger. Boy was I wrong!!! 145 mph in the front straight and diving into all the corners like I was at Rally IV. Passing OK on front straight only. I was able to pass many of these cars but they would stay close in the corners. That was more because of my lack of ability than the car. John Hennessey in his Cadillac was probably the fastest car on the track. If you haven't seen this car go to his web site and check it out.

www.hennesseyperformance.com

Only incident was a Ferrari that took an off track excursion and had to be pulled back to the pavement. No big deal Thank Goodness. After a couple of 4-5 lap runs in each group we headed back home in smaller packs.

Total Miles = 270
Highest speed = 145 mph
Total time gone = 8 hrs
Cost = Priceless!!!!!!

This is a yearly event for this group. Day after Christmas run. Put it on your list next year.

Hi Larry

You did very well; you more than made up for the lack of camera and associated pictures by the manner in which you shared the event; this created numerous pictures in my mind that were very much enjoyed.

Thank you

149 is fun. Ride it on the bike all the time. If you want a good burger out that way stop in @ Yankees in Carlos.

You probably already know about Lucky's Rod Run. This year it is on 1-10-10. Same destination Chickon Oil Co. In BCS.

Hi Larry, that was a lot of fun. I hope we can go out and do it again sometime before it starts getting hot again. Have a great new year.

Outkastscc,

I have also made that run several times and it is really really fun. I have a bunch of the local cobras planning on doing the Luckys if the weather is nice. Last Year it was HORRIBLE!!!! I am hoping to take the Cobra.

John,

Anytime! Thanks for being so informative. Logan has talked twin turbo everything since saturday. Must keep him away from your facility untill he gets his own money!!! The highlight of the day for me was when on the first run at TWS and I got stuck behind the BMW M5, you blasted down the top of the front straight, making some feel a little HP Envy in there Fine European Sports cars. That Cadillac is just plain NASTY!!!!!

The Houston Cobra Club is looking at meeting at 249 and 2920 in Tomball. Not exactly sure yet what time and how many. Probably weather dependant on how many. Low for sat. night at this time 28 degress and high Sunday around 50. Sounds like pretty cold Cobra weather but I bet we will still have several. The GT sure would be fun!!!
