Guys,

I've seen this Hennessy exhaust - it looks really good - thing is I want to know what the sound will be like compared to say a Borla, or my current favourite choice - the Tubi. Also will it give similar benefit in terms of performance as these other brands? Will I only be able to get flames if I get rid of the CAT's??

best exhaust sound

I have heard the Hennesy, Accufab, Borla & Ida (I have the Ida) exhaust & the Ida has by far the best sound in my opinion. It is a race like sound. A cross between a high revving Ferrari & a hopped up V8 Mustang. Close to the original GT40s I have heard. It is a cool wail. Each exhaust has it's own distinctive sound but the Ida is the race like one. Flat out it just screams instead of growling. When you are at 5000+ rpm it sound like 8000 rpm! I love the sound. Who needs a stereo? Quite at freeway speeds in 6th though.

Ed

P.S. At the open track events I go to people come up to tell me my GT has the best sound when floored down the straight. They ask me what group I am in so they can listen to the Ida GT! Motor Music!

That's the HEFFNER EXHAUT - NOT HENNESEY

Use the search engine on the Forum for "Heffner Exhaust"

Only heard one and saw one on a turbo GT and it was sweet. Of course, I think the Acufab sounds best. Heffner does fantastic work.

It's would be prudent to carefully check references on any supplier.

we use the ford racing / borla exhaust, which is pictured. for more sound and less heat there are plenty of other good systems as have been mentioned. if you want something quieter go with the ford racing / borla system.

Johns right, thats a picture of a Borla muffler not a Hennessey or Heffner. I had a Borla on my car and it was too quiet for my taste even though it was louder than stock. I thought for the money you didn't see enough difference. I replaced it with the Accufab X-pipe and love it. Just loud enough when you get on it but not obnoxious cruising down the road.

I've bought another car now and am looking for an exhaust for it. I really prefer the looks of the Heffner tips over the Accufab but Accufab won't custom install tips anymore because they said the tips caused the plastic surrounding them to discolor and melt. I don't see that happening with the Borla or other units with tips but the end result is if I want a better look I gotta go to Heffner which is somewhat more expensive and is an unknown on the sound. I assume it's close to the Accufab since they are close in design but I'll let you know if and when I buy one.

the Heffner exhaust looks like a quality part for sure.
