Dear Members,

I'm new here. Just found the site Wed. What a great forum. I've read others, but none compare. You guys have a great site!

My first car was a 1956 Ford 2dr hardtop, in heritage blue and white. Paid $50 bucks for it. Drove the heck out of it.

On the 44th day of this year (Feb. 13) in order of how tall the GT is, I drove 3 hours to see my first GT in person. It was a Heritage edition.

It was waiting for me behind a fence of race flags
sitting patiently under a light coating of dust. All
seals intact and the windows open. The car is so different in person. I've found hundreds of pics on- line but none give a true perspective of the cars size. It's big. It's very low true, :biggrin but it's no Lotus.

The only reason I'm going to bloviate is because I'm still in the "Dream state" with this car. Many of you are dealing with the realities of , where or if at all to park it. How not to get door dings, should I get a smaller pulley? Will I loose my license with this car? Where should I break the majic 200 number, if at all. What is that tiny invisable mark near the fender.

Not me, I don't have one yet. No reality, just dreams.

Why do I want one? Because the Ford GT is one of
the coolest, sweetest, meanest, smoothest, perfect,
looking cars ever. I haven't even sat in one much less driven one. But all that I've read sounds real good. They can't all be liars.

I had to talk my way behind the roped fence, with mini flashlight in hand I spent an hour plus on the ground looking the thing copletely over. Every nook and crany.

One sweet beast.

I gotta gotta have one. :biggrin

Thanks,

Allan

Kerry P & GGIII,

Thanks for the replies, AMEN and AMEN.

Why else do I want one or two? The Ford GT seams to me to be a car one could keep for the rest of their lifetime (if they could afFORD to)(not needing trade in $).

I've owned some very cool and fast cars. All of which I've sold. To me the Ford GT is so special for a number of reasons. It's design, history, drivability and power. Sure other fine ultra cars will be made, but they can be purchaised as well, and sit next to the GT.

The Carrera GT is another on my "must get" list. It too is very very special.

Both are "Buy and Hold". The Ford though is "American" made. Finally!!!!!!!
Nothing against Vettes and Vipers, they are cool cars. But the GT is so special. Even if it posted equal lap times , speeds and other vairiables to others, it has so much pazazz, culture and grace.

I've been "USA bad" for many years, by buying four Porsches a VW Thing and a Lotus, not to mention others. But the Ford GT happily brings me back home to buy US and be proud of the purchaise.

What a car and I can't wait.

Thanks again for the replies. :biggrin

Allan, many of your feelings about the GT mirror my own - and it's most definitely a buy and hold car. No question.

I'm not an American so the fact that the car is American built doesn't apply in my case - it's simply the most desirable car currently available on the planet - period. I've had Lambo's etc - and I'm not Italian. So the fact that the GT is head and shoulders above any UK, German, Italian and Mexican (just put that in because I'm an equal opportunity employer) is testament to American workmanship and particularly (in this case) design. If you're an American owner - I can imagine the double pride factor.

Just to wind you up (in a pornographic way), as I'm writing this, I'm looking through my window. Guess what I can see? Yes that's right. I'm looking at it right now. :lol

Go get one, go get one fast! And welcome to the forum, nice to have another GT supporter on board!

Neilda,

You dog you. I'm in envy of you and other GT owners. Must be especially nice to turn that key and push the button and go. What color is yours?

Have fun and stay alive.

I worked with an international firm based in London for years. They sold my pics world wide, great bunch of people. Then they went bankrupt oweing me a hundred grand. I'm over it emotionally, and soon financially.

All the best with your GT :wink ,

Allan

Yup, that is what I always say, then sell it two years later and buy it back 15 to 20 years later at XX the cost of the original... oh well, maybe I will learn. This car should be a keeper.
