"HDR" Photos

I was eating lunch with the GT out front and noticed a guy taking a lot of pics.
Got curious and went out to talk with him..

He was a photographer and showed me pic that was done with "HDR".
Don't know much about that type of photography but I need to find out.

The nutshell is HDR is that a set of images that are taken from under exposed (to normally expose the highlights) to over exposed (to normally expose the shadows) and then digitally combined to increase the detail in both shadows and highlights (thus increasing the "dynamic range" of the overall image).
