Lap time has been revealed finally today.

Except the bits that made it possible all came from Canada.
 
Congrats to the Multimatic and Ford team that made this happen.

The video really showed the pride and recognition of each other's hard work on the faces of all the team members.

An everlasting moment of achievement for all of them.

First is good, and no one can can ever take that away. That's the good news.

Unfortunately, the bad news is that Corvette can probably beat that time, should they want to.

Doesn't take away from the proper pride of the moment, and we all should rejoice.

Congrats again to Multimatic and Ford.
 
GTD is fast, but behind its direct competitor (GT3RS) and the GT2RS is coming soon.

This is a bit of a disappointment along the same lines of the privateer Viper ACR-E attempt at 7:00 with tire failures and finances preventing the goal, but awarded the consolation prizes of fastest American and fastest manual.

But think about the fact that a Mustang is going toe to toe with Porsche’s best.

I love that.

Let’s see what the car can do on a warm dry track.
 
Not sure if there’s much Mustang in the GTD!

Cold but true. With 350k price tag, it should be in 6:45 zone.

Actually seems like an incredible time on a green and damp track.

in addition to any 'updates' to the GTD, or 'found time' from Dirk, there are some changes to the track itself that will impact final numbers next year.

Their first outing and the car goes sub 7's at 4000+lbs.. That's a lot of weight regardless of hp compared to Porsche and other cars running sub 7's.. Pretty Impressive..

The modern day equivalent (sort of) of Fords shunk works 'Kar Kraft'.
Were Ford engineers moonlight and ideas are born and brought to fruition without the restrictions of corporate bureaucracy and the UAW.

You can't build GTDs on an F150 assembly line.

As you surely all know, there is a new time, and the GTD moves up in the food chain. Shaved off 5.5 seconds off the previous time.

Fourth fastest production car on the Nurburgring.
