My name is AJ and I am a new(ish) member. There is a wonderful thread on the Forum about my book Go Like Hell that Ralphie started. (Thank you Ralph.) I am doing a book signing with Carroll Shelby to benefit the Carroll Shelby Children's Foundation. I signed 66 books (because Ford won Le Mans in '66, of course) and Shelby signed them. The Foundation will be auctioning them off, stay tuned for details. Race for Life--a good cause. :cheers

Welcome to the Forum, A.J.

I just downloaded your book to my Kindle and am looking forward to reading it.

Aloha,

HiloDave

Welcome. Your book was an excellent read. :cheers

AJ, Welcome to the Forum. I just received your new book this week and have it in CanCun, Mexico on vacation with me. I'll read it this week. Everyone says it is great. You will enjoy the Forum and its members. Tomy Hamon- Texas City, Texas

Thank you folks for good thoughts. Anybody heading to the Kohler International Challenge at Road America in July? (See below) If so we can meet in person, I'll be there signing some books and having a good time. Can't wait.

Welcome AJ - Glad you got "admitted" to our little asylum! :biggrin I enjoyed your book very much, and am looking forward to future works.

You should consider coming to the Rally in October and of course the START of the Rally in Scottsdale! :cheers

AJ, several of us will be there for the Kohler. I have a red/white stripe GT. Please come find us if we don't find you. Would love a copy of your signed book. Frank Pikul

Welcome, AJ. My Dad sent me your book a few weeks ago. If you respond to my post, I can tell my dad I corresponded with the author.....cool. :cheers

Great read. Well done.

Stu

What a lot of work...

Just finished your book. What a great read. How long did it take you to write? It seems like the research must have been endless. I'm fairly well "GT-40 read"
but I learned a lot from your book - stuff I'd not seen before. That's for a great book. :thumbsup

The saddest of news... This weekend, the son of 1964 F1 World Champion John Surtees died of a fatal crash. When I interviewed Surtees for my book at his office south of London two years ago, the subject of his son's racing came up. Henry Surtees was at the time 16. Was he any good? Did he have a future? I asked Surtees these questions about his son. He answered, and I'll never forget it, "We shall see." Here is the sad story in London's Telegraph, just terrible.... I feel sorry to even pass it on.

That's a dynamite picture. I have an amazing shot from Playboy, June 1967 issue, of the starting grid at Spa, just before the flag falls, a full spread. (This was Surtees' first race back after his near-death accident in September 1965...and he won!). The pic is incredible, but I can't get it uploaded! Stay tuned, I'm working on it.

Sad to lose young Henry, some solace that he left this world car racing.

Anya - nice photo of John in Germany. Is it one that you took?

Anybody headed to Road America this weekend? I'll be with Paul Zimmerman, who runs The Motorsport Collector, signing copies of Go Like Hell: Ford, Ferrari, and Their Battle for Speed and Glory at Le Mans. Sunday at noon. I'll bring a box of Playboy's latest issue as a bonus. Hope to see people there. Weather is supposed to be beautiful...

Thanks for all your support of the Ford GT forum. We all appreciate your donations and commentary.

Check out A.J. "deer in the headlights" Baime with the one and only Jay Leno talking about Go Like Hell. As you'll see, I have the proverbial face for radio.

Thank You for all the effort, I could not put it down. And I could not stop talking about your book, or the subject for days. However my Dad and my best friend has the same interest as myself, I drove him crazy talking about your book and its story. Great job,I hope to meet you someday. Thank You.:thumbsup
