I would like to install the grille that was included on the early 05 cars. Does anyone know if this would be a perfect fit on my 06. I called the dealer but they couldn't come up with a part number. If anyone has a part number or has tried this please respond. I also noticed there is a metal plate blocking the hole at the end of the air intakes on each side of the large front opening. Was this originally left open? Were these meant for additional brake cooling?

It can be done, though not as easy as you would think. I have an '06 and found an '05 grill I wanted on for the few track events I do. The service manual makes it look easy but the radiator must come out or the front nose has to come off. The body guys at my dealership modified the '05 grill to get rid of the end mounting points hidden behind the phony front brake ducts and mounted the '05 right on the '06 grill. It looks perfect, no new holes.

Thanks for the reply. I might consider having something made up that would attach to the 06 frame. How large are the openings and their shapes in the factory grille. Any ideas as to what material to use?

I will have to measure the openings but my guess is the round holes are .250", .375" at the biggest. The material seems to be just mild steel that is E-coated a matt black. I can check with a magnet to be sure it is not stainless. It should not be tough to duplicate for someone with the skill. I got the '05 through a contact at Saleen who called a contact at Mayflower who made the grills. It appears that the '05 part number has been superseded by the 06 one in the Ford system so it cannot be ordered through them.

The 06 facia has supports to keep if from loosing it's shape that the 05 does not have. One of the sutle changes between the model with grill and without.

My Ford dealer parts Manager found an 05 grill at anothr dealer, in N.C. if I remember correctly. They had ordered "replacements" early on. I now have it on my 06. There maybe more 05 mesh grills in the dealer system. The 05 grill has been deleted frpm the Ford parts system. A call to Saleen or Rousch may find one left over in the scratched and dented pile. Or the big parts barn on Long Island.
