Jay Leno once demonstrated a method he uses for fabricating replacement parts. He uses a 3d scanner, and then 3d prints a NEGATIVE that can be used to cast an original.
3D scanning technology has probably advanced to where you can scan a part and get a CNC model for it... Is Billet Aluminum strong enough to make transmission parts? A high end machine shop could probably make it from the correct material.
Is this possible??? I'm sure there is a machinist among us. If it was I'd have thought someone would have done it but then again ...
