Ford GT Portfolio book

Has everyone seen the Ford GT Portfolio book? This is an extremely horizontal book (about 18" wide I guess) about 9" tall, sort of a hardbound brochure. It has a black cover with part of the front of a Ford GT visibile. I would say it is about 40-60 pages thick.

The photography is mostly Ford publicity shots with some new art. The shots we've seen before seem to be pumped up some with a little help from Photoshop.The rear 3/4 shot of the dark blue car is scumptious.

The producer of it was some small boutique ad agency. If any one knows who took the pictures, I'd like to know.

I am curious how this book was employed by Ford dealers. Do bucks up prospects for the GT get the book if they look like they are almost primed to buy a Ford GT ? Or does the dealer wait until they have signed the bottom line? One Ford GT owner told me he got two such books,but not from the dealer he bought the car from!

If you bought a new Ford GT and didn't get the book, I'd get on the horn to your dealer and say "You forgot something..."

Anybody else have an opinion on the book such as it is or what should have been in it?

I got screwed on my book

As I was signing the paperwork I suddenly remembered and said, "Hey, what about the hardcover book that every buyer is supposed to get?" My dealership guy hadn't heard about it, and when he checked in with the rest of the dealership they didn't have one.

I don't know if they ever got one -- my car came directly through Ford, so maybe that caused a hiccup in the system. I called my Ford contact and he was like, "Man, we sent at least one book to every dealer getting a GT, and plenty that weren't. I think most of them ended up on eBay at the hands of some unscrupulous salesmen;" which, when you think about it, could be a redundant term. :rofl

Regardless, I was able to get one through my Ford guy, but I haven't pulled it from the shrink wrap yet. I'm thinking of getting a second one (maybe buying it of eBay if I can get a decent price) that I can actually open up --while leaving the other one wrapped.

My dealer called me the next day after I bought my car to tell me he had forgotten to give me a package. It was the hardcover book. Very pretty book, but it's too easy to get fingerprints on the dark pages.
So if you want to keep it in pristine condition, either don't open it or find something to erase the fingerprints. Any ideas?

Portfolio book

Hi guys,

Can you guys tell me what the portfolio book is actually called? Does it have a title or an author? I just contacted my Ford dealer and they have no idea what I'm talking about. They asked me to get more info and they would try to get it for me.

My GT is on a truck somewhere between Minneapolis and Seattle right now. Hopefully I'll be officially joining this club within the next week.

GT Portfolio

The book is fantastic. They aren't inexpensive, they are $180.00 each. But I suppose it's all relative after purchasing a GT.

Book is called Portfolio

It is actually called the Portfolioand it's for the '05 but I think that's a misnomer because I thought portfolios were more loosely bound. There's also a loose bound portfolio with some Pardo paintings of Ford GTs which was on the official Ford website for sale for awhile.That $180 figure sounds way high. This is more or less a hardbound showroom brochure--same pictures, just pumped up, better paper and more rah-rah tone.The 98-page Corvette brochure Chevy sold for $10 a few years ago was much more informative. Not to say it won't be collectible because automakers rarely make brochures over again for discontinued models.

I emailed my dealer and he was aware of the book but thought they came direct to us. He said he was going to get one for me.

I actually bought my book at borders, before i bought the car!!!! then when my car was delivered i recieved another one from the dealer. not knowing it was a part of the deal? i guess a dealer who wants to give that little extra.P.S. THOUGH I DID NOT GET A CAR COVER BAG WITH THE CAR , THEY SAID THE BAG DID NOT COME WITH ALL OF THEM EVEN THOUGH I HAVE THE COVER.....MY BUDDY GOT THE BAG AND COVER , BUT NO BOOK. HE DID GET A WAX IN A BOTTLE , DID ANYONE GET THAT? HE WAS IN TEXAS , IM IN NY...KEEP SMILING GTJOEY :biggrin

i just saw the elusive "gt book"
met a guy who just got a white with blue from a conn. dealer, he said the book was in the vehicle on delivery !!!!
i will be call ford headquarters 2morrow !!!!!

Portfolio

I just received my car this past Friday. It came with the car cover and bag as well as a small trickle charger. No Portfolio book or wax. I still haven't heard back from the dealer regarding the book yet.

Weird. In my car's trunk there were a small case and a large "Ford GT" bag. Inside the case was the trickle charger and inside the bag was the car cover.

My dealer told me no one dared touch the car when they received it. When I came to buy it, it still had the "do not open" stickers on the passenger door, trunk and hood. The only thing the car didn't have was the GT book, but the dealer called me the next day to tell me he had a package for me that he forgot to give me, and that was the book.

drove everyone at my selling dealer crazy about "the book"
they found it today in the owners office, still in a cardboard box, never opened, with a post date of august on it.
it is now home with me, safe and sound.
