The finalized details have not been posted. I did not attend last year, but I have several years previous to that. Track days are new feature.
The last time I attended Celebration the following procedure was followed. Late Friday afternoon, the main streets of downtown Celebration were closed to traffic and you were assigned a car show position to park you car on the street, where it is permitted to remain until Sunday morning. The area is blocked off and patrolled by uniformed law enforcement personnel. They also provide a place to wash cars.
If you have never been to Celebration FL, the below paragraph in part is from an article I wrote for a Pantera Owners Club of America (POCA) publication. It will provide some background.
“The event took place May 23, 2004 in Celebration, Florida. It was a charity event to benefit the Make a Wish Foundation. The City of Celebration is the brainchild of Walt Disney. It is located in the Orlando-Kissimmee Area, in close proximity to Walt Disney World Theme Parks. When we drove into Celebration, according to Frannie, (wifo) it was like entering a movie set. It is a completely planned community. All of the residences, including homes, condos, and apartments, are built in old southern style. The downtown area boasts a city hall, bank, post office, hotel, shops and restaurants all of which carry on the old southern motif. Celebration has its own schools, hospital and churches. Frannie struck up conversations with several of the residents. Every man and women she spoke with loved living in Celebration. The community runs the gamut from the retired to working young folks raising families. Our impression, which may be completely false, is that it would be a very safe community in which to live and where one would never be afraid to walk the streets after dark. There is golf course in Celebration. It is open to the public. It is a non-gated community."
Each year we attended we stayed at Celebration Hotel. The food at the hotel has always been first rate.
Because of the close proximity of the Celebration Hotel to the car show, shops and restaurants this event has always been a favorite among the Pantera Ladies.
