Do You Think Having No Stripe Lowers The Appeal In Resale?

Love to hear your thoughts on this as I have a chance to buy a GT with no stripe for a very good price.

Absolute crap ! Stripe you can always add (See 1 of 101), but for you to take it off is more difficile....
Go for it ! ...what color ? That I think is more of a resale concern (if any)

No Stripe here either, I think it is more understated (my style). For sure more rare, which who knows could be worth more later.

But who cares, great car get out and drive it.

I ordered a no-stripe car, so I'm biased, but I think the very-rare no stripe cars will be worth more than the more common striped cars over time.

But I would agree with the post above: Buy the car you want, not the car you want to sell!
Paul, I still think to pay extra to have the side stripes delete is not ideal (I like it better with the side stipes as it makes it visually lower and more stretched), but I could definitely live without the top stripes by now. In that sense I totally envy your car.

For me best option now: midnight blue, side stripes yes, standard wheels, gunpower calipers...no subwoofer, but the MacIntosh radio and decent real hifi speakers but w/o the fattish unclear subwoofer! :thumbsup

Just my 49 cents...

Since the only good color with or without stripes is red, anything else you buy is second class.

When I purchased my car I was also offered a red/no stripes, stock wheels, mcintosh stereo for almost $8k less. As much as I wanted the car with no stripes, it looked too plain for me.

Yea just side stripe.

If anything,it will keep you from having to tell what kind of car it is all the time.

IMHO a GT without stripes is sort of like a Viper GTS without stripes, its ok but stripes have a way of accentuating body lines. Someone else already stated the cars without stripes are cheaper and less desireable in Ford Showrooms already. Nice car either way but way too plain for me unless its 15k cheaper than I might consider it, even then though I think I might regret not paying the extra for stripes!

I am saving $15K including the stripe savings

I think the car looks better with the stripe but I probably can get one painted for a lot less than $15K. I have already decided to take the plunge though. Personally, I think the car looks pretty "bad" without the stripe. It has the side stripe, BBS wheels and the painted (gray) calipers...oh yes the McIntosh too. Sure wish they had a glovebax or truck accessory though

I almost bought a no stripe white, but after talking with all my friends about it they convinced me that the stripe is part of the gestalt of the car - part of what makes it a GT. It is kind of like a Rolls without the Spirit of Ecstasy (a Bentley?) or a Shelby without the cobra emblem (a Mustang?). I am very glad I went with the stripe. I think I could live without the side stripe. "Ford GT" is a little redundant. Just "GT" would have been fine (or of course GT-40, GT-44, GT-50, etc would have been great). However, I never thought about people then always asking what it is, so maybe it is OK like that. Like everyone said, it is personal preference, not a future concern. Yes, it makes the car a little more understated. Instead of an IN YOUR FACE car, it is merely an IN your face car. The car will never be one that someone will miss because there is no stripe. It you are worried about resale value, then you will NEVER drive the car anyway, so what's the difference? :biggrin

I was initially in line to purchase a white with blue stripes but when it arrived I changed my mind. It looked great, but it just wasn't me. And I think that's what it all comes down to. The GT comes in a wide variety of options and colors so everyone can customize it however it best suits their personality and lifestyle. There really isn't one that is more valuable than the other I think. I just know that mine is priceless.

I'm one of the no stripes guys... it took six months of looking just to find one I could deal on. I prefere the understated stealth look, but each and every GT I've seen looks great and sure turns heads.

Just buy what you like an don't worry about resale value.

Now if you cant make up your mind that's a whole different story.

Good luck with your choice! Its a tough one!! :willy

Who knows what the future will bring.
I have a Heritage, but I think Yellow is more rare.
But, in the future, maybe Red will be the color with the best resale.
Maybe the GTX1 will be worth the most, or worth nothing. It's all about what the buyers of the future are willing to pay.
I don't think stripes or no stripes will make a big difference, but it may, for some big collector. Adding the stipes later is not the same thing. Collectors will want an original (IMHO), they way it came from the factory. Any modifications that anyone makes, be sure to keep the original parts. I'm going to keep my stock muffler and the plastic oil caps....

It's your personal choice, buy what you want and like. Or buy what you feel is the best deal for you. You could probably wait 3-4 years and get one for half price.

Would be nice if Ford put some more hype behind it. That would certainly make the next supercar, if any, more saleable. If they work at it, the Ford supercar could be just as exclusive and hard to get as a new Ferrari.

Based upon my personal experience (both with my Viper and Ford GT), if you randomly selected 10 people and showed them any particular color and stripe combination, probably 6 or 7 out of 10 would prefer the car with stripes.

What impact this will have future re-sale value is anyone's guess, but it does suggest a larger potential market for the striped Ford GT.

The side stripe delete is a no cost option! And trust me, the car is so low it doesn't need to look even lower!

See?

If any pic ever demonstrated my dislike for the rear bumper it is this one.
However the plain blue is stunning! :thumbsup
