cracked windshield

Put a piece of clear tape over it to keep the elements out and go to an auto glass shop and see if it is a repair or replace job. If it is smaller in area than a quarter there is a good chance it can be repaired for around $65 and may not even be visible without close examination. If you do nothing it most likely will spread over time.

It was my understanding that replacing the windscreen in a GT was quite an involved procedure - removing the wings I was told.... Not an Autoglass job.

Words of wisdom from someone else this happened to on this forum: Do you REALLY want to drive this car at high speed with a cracked windshield? Get it replaced. Will cost a couple thou though. Hope they have the glue it needs to go into. Check old posts.

The shop manual says the front hood, front inner fenders, headlights, and fenders must all come off before starting on the windshield.
Obviously not the "do it in your driveway" type of job.

Biffom had to replace his windshield several months ago. You could try to contact him about the details involved.

I had a small stone chip in my 2001 Tahoe, repaired it, fine.
I had a small stone chip on our 2004 Cayenne S, repaired it, bugged me still, replaced the windshield later.
State Farm pays for the cost of repair, which is small, so you can always try that, done at a local shop while you wait, and then decide if it is suitable.
I've heard that sometimes with windshield replacement, it's not always as good as factory. In fact, on the Cayenne, I had them reseal it later since we heard wind noise. It's fine now.
