Consolation Prizes??

Hey guys, I saw several had their consolidation prizes in Focus RS and GT350s.

I purchased my childhood dream car as my consolation. Maybe it will skyrocket in value and I can trade it on a new FGT one day. It is pretty special and a joy to drive. Pretty slow compared to the GT but a really neat car to drive.

:biggrinwow ... beautiful exotic cars here .... very nice and most likely also great investments.

The new FGT was never realistic for me so didn´t apply - so not really a consolation prize .... more just excersizing my love for vintage muscle .... :wink

Bought this a few weeks ago in Canada - a 1963½ Mercury Marauder S-55 - now with a built 428 tripower & 4 speed ....just love the way they tried making a full size car into a sporty package :lol

Wow, you have excellent taste! :biggrin

I'm always a sucker for Mopar muscle, but that 4-speed Marauder is off the hook!! Congrats.

I would like to rent the Marauder for Le Mans week next year. :biggrin

That Marauder is just spectacular. I'm not a big Mercury fan and I'm not real big on full size muscle cars but that big Mercury REALLY gets it for me. Plus it's unusual and different. I'd love to see it. Perhaps before Le Mans next year.

Congrats, Rob. Diablos probably the only Lamborghini I'd ever consider owning. Did you happen to get this one from Drivers Source here in Houston?

Ed, I did get it in Houston, but it was from an individual in Cypress. He had it in one of those garage condos. He had several 50s model T birds and a couple 65-66 Vettes.

My childhood dream car was Countach but prices are crazy and I like driving my cars and I don't think it is very driveable. I had a Countach on my wall as a kid and a friend and I always looked at the kits in the back of Popular Mechanics and we always said we were going to build one!!! After having a Viper Roadster, there is nothing like open top driving. The Diablo is the only Lamborghini I would own. The day I bought the GT I was really going to buy a Murcielago and they talked me into driving the GT and the rest is history!!! Now, I was debating between the 6.0 Diablo at the time, and I picked the right car but if I could have only gotten the 6.0 too!!! A couple I looked at have doubled in price. Oh well!!!

I have had the car just a few weeks and put about 300 miles on it. I've really been impressed with the driving experience. Today I drove my GT and the Diablo. Both extremely engaging. The Diablo is a very visceral.....the very tight footbox, the sound of the V12 with quicksliver exhaust and tubi tips, the completely different power band with torque and HP not really coming on till 4500-7000 rpms, the seating position, and of course the looks. I have really enjoyed it having not really liked the Murci Roadster with Egear (maybe it was just the egear)

One of the best surprises: the prior owner didn't really know how significant the signature under the front bonnet is. He told me "some guy that was well know in the Lamborghini world signed it. I know Balboni's has signed about as many cars as Carroll Shelby, but still very historic.

Copenhagen, I love those cars!!! I am a big fan of the 63-64 Impala SS, but that 1963½ Mercury Marauder S-55 has them beat by a mile!!

Come over and we´ll do the trip together .... or even better, U bring the Pinto and we´ll swap cars for the summer :wink Chip can tag along in #34 :thumbsup

Thanks for the positive comments - just proves that we really are car guys no matter brand or price .... the Marauder to me is the coolest thing in a long time .... and price wise it was a bargain compared to the Challenger

:cheers

I attended a car show in Austin on Saturday and there was a red 65 Mercury Marauder there. It was one of my favorites. I like yours too.
