buy it and enjoy--since when did you care what other people thought
people that own gt's are leaders, not followers !!!!!!

YAHHH - I Agree with Florida Chris (he's my role model as I want to grow up to be like him!) and what Sam the Man said - being life is way to short - get as much out of it as you can for yourself and more importantly it's what you give to others!

No matter what - somebody will always be jaded. Typically the one's who complain are the one that can't find balance or didn't elect to pay the dues when the opportunity came to them.

Once you get the GT grin - it's real hard to remove!

you need to give whatshername more stuff to do, get an early start on spring cleaning, organize every drawer and closet, lawn and garden work, clean the pool, wash windows, painting the trim, detailing your cars, charity work,....

doesn't all her chatter make you nervous???:lol :lol

When my GT arrived it took her a couple of months to figure out what it was...:willy

Bony - one better as when I pulled in the driveway the first words out of MY mouth were "I can't take it back - they already sold the Mercedes - It's our's". Previous to me driving in with the car my wife just thought I just wouldn't do it...

Joke is still on her - car is staying for a long time!

had car picked out. so excited i couldnt sleep. then came the old "that sure is a lot of money for a car" and what will our customers think if they see you driving a 150k car. i own an auto shop that was started by me and my dad 35 years ago. she thinks that the customers will think he must be charging alot to afford that car. i told her that the car was art to me. anyway been married 25 years and usually not a problem for her on my hot rods cars and bikes but this a big jump. any thoughts.
Blownaway,
You pose an interesting situation.
When in doubt, I usually follow these imortal words:

"All I'm gonna do, is just go on and do what I feel is right."
Jimi Hendrix

Chris, Sam, Mike, Bony, et al are correct.

"Buy the ticket, take the ride."
Hunter S. Thompson

Eeeeeeeeeeow! Not the "goodest" guy to quote in this context!
Hendrix FOLLOWED his own advise - took the drugs - and they killed him ...if yuh gets my drift ...:frown :thumbsdow

True story, I am doing a rebuild of a sports racing coupe, and when the GT arrived my wife thought it was that car,,,

For her money as long as it runs, she is happy.

Pockets,
I think you may have missed the point.
The point being that an individual should follow what is in his own heart, and not be living a life that is controlled by what others think.
What an individual believes does not necessarily have anything with who the individual is quoting.
Giving credit where credit is due; is proper when making a statement that is not one’s own creation.
There are many quotes of wisdom that have come from individuals that may not have been, nor are necessarily doing as others believe is correct.
However, that does not make their statements invalid nor need to be censored.
Hope this response does not create any additional offense.

No offense taken in the first place!:lol Me thinks yuh took my comment a weeee bit too seriously there, SPIRIT! Lighten up!

In any event, a better philosophy would be Davy Crockett's: "First be SURE you're right ...THEN go ahead". Now, yuh gotta admit, ain't no way sumbuddy can "burn themselves" followin' THAT advice!

Man! Sometimes I'm so profound, even I can't stand it!:cheers

Pockets,
I like the quote; too bad Crockett died doing what he thought was right while at the Alamo in 1836.

Fred

The Ford GT tends to attract someone who is genuinely interested in cars, not impressing people.

I think it is directly in line with what you do, and it sends exactly the right message business wise.

There are plenty of cars, priced much lower, or at the same level, or higher, that could be guilty of sending the wrong message.

The Ford GT is not one of them.

Aaaaaaaaaah! But, he didn't FOLLOW his own advice in that instance, did he?
Most people would not consider it "right" ( or SMART either!) to stand & fight in a situation where overwhelming odds foretold one's own unaviodable, predictable, complete defeat and equally likely demise. That'd be a useless, pointless and irresponsible waste... not to mention it'd fly in the face of simple logic & common sense as well! It might be "noble", or "heroic" to some ... but dumb is dumb no matter WHAT label you wrap it in.

Shall we DROP this now? I sense people "nodding off"...:cheers

Buy it don't hide it and enjoy it

I practice in a small town and had thought some of the same thoughts . Hiding what you have achieved is impossible sharing it is rewarding and it is far easier to buy a great car and be enjoy it than have an affair and hide it. I have found that if you are fair and good at what you doo the patients and staff share in your sucess. Business has not droped off nor has any staff left or asked for raises. I have actually given a few rides to those who ask and while around town have popped the hood and spent a few minutes with any one who asks. One local collage professor even asked at the end of an appointment while paying his bill if I would ever consider giving him a ride. To which I said its lunch time lets go. We had a nice ride and an interesting lunch well worth the time. I have seen several of his fellow employees as new patients thanks. Buy it share it and give your wife her own keys.

No regretts FLY GT40:thumbsup

EP - There is a saying spawned of the event of 1836 - but it wasnt harvested until the Texas Rangers came into existance and it is:

"One Riot One Ranger" and I am proud that I have used it as a foundation of business for many years to date.

Remember the Alamo!:cheers

See Spirit - after being in New Jersey and Europe for the last week - Texas even looks good to me now

BTW- this thread was to buy or not the GT. When you do you'll love it. Look at the earlier posts. My convtions are still solid. When they complain - its not at you, its because they didn't make the effort to have a car like the GT! The wihners have to quit whining and step up, or get out of the way!
