Center console paint problem

The paint on the center console of a customer's Ford GT was peeling due to magnesium degradation.
As you all know, magnesium rust is very troublesome. So I researched magnesium rust. It was necessary to apply a chemical treatment before painting.
I found a company that does chemical treatment on center consoles, and sent the corroded center console to them for treatment.
After the chemical treatment, I applied a magnesium primer and then a powder coat primer to fill in any irregularities in the magnesium caused by rust. After that, I sanded the surface flat and painted it a matte silver color close to the original color. It was difficult to apply the black, blue, and red colors to the recessed marks on the air conditioning switches and temperature control knobs. I think it turned out beautifully.
Is the paint on the center console of your 2005 Ford GT in good condition?

Hi extrap san
Thank you 😊🙏
Your Ford GT is Lucky 👍
I think it has to do with the temperature and humidity of where you store your car.

How did you restore the recessed markings? Everything came out nicely.

Hi Art138 san
The painting and lettering were outsourced. The color was applied to the grooves using a syringe.

Beautiful job! …Too bad center consoles aren’t replicated in Carbon Fiber.

Amazing restoration. The person that did the paint obviously had experience with the details found on these panels.

I had no idea. That’s incredible. I’m lucky my 05 is still perfect but I’m glad to know these are available if needed. Thank you!

Hachi-san, nice work.

Others: My 2005 lived most of its life on the East Coast before moving to WA state 6 years ago, so it lived in a humid environment. It does not have any corrosion of the center console. Therefore, I suspect that the consoles with corrosion were the result of poor priming or cleaning and treating of the magnesium castings. Some corroded, some didn't, and I haven't noticed a correlation with geographical location.

Thank you 🙏
As you pointed out, there is a good chance that there was a problem with the magnesium prep. I have a customer's 2006 Ford GT in my garage, and it has some corrosion on the center console. About 300km southwest of my garage, a friend has a 2005 Ford GT, and the center console is fine.
