Blown clutch already

I must say, I've given my clutch more than its fair share of abuse, so I doubt it was driver error unless he was starting out in 3rd. Even if he was starting out in third, he'd only have to do it a couple of times before he realized he was in third. Have you taken the car apart yet?

took the car apart, clutch was destroyed.

The clutch on the GT is fairly bullet proof - the GT driven by the journalists in Europe has been deliberately abused and is still going strong. Not sure how you'd blow one - would lot's of fast starts in 3rd do it?[/QUOTE]

Blew mine in 5 seconds by doing a smoky burnout in third gear from a standstill. Thought I was in first. I knew from the smell that I had really screwed up. It was totally undriveable afterwards. That's probably what happened to your renter.

Ouch Texas! You must have felt good after that..... :ack

I would really like to buy a burned out clutch from anybody. Please let me know.

Sorry, the dealer disposed of mine.

I have been curious about a few things related to clutch replacements.

1) How much did it end up costing (parts and labor, did you use a dealer)?
2) I assume this is not a ‘warranty’ repair?
3) Did you still have the 1st to 2nd cool grind with the new clutch?

Clutch

My car has 3700 miles, probably half of that on the track. I have had no problems with the clutch or brakes and I have had them checked....
