Big Bend Open Road Race - Ft Stockton, Texas - April 2010

Hi Larry,

I'm looking at the Alfa-Elite computer, but an extra set of eyes would be good. I put none for navigator on my registration form, but there's no cost for the navigator, so as long as they have the right safety equipment, seems it'd be ok for a last minute person.

I'll put the call out and give first dibs to our GT guys, but if no takers in the next month or so, I'll take someone off your list.

Not sure where I'll be coming from, but I'll keep your caravan in mind. What hotel are you staying at? What speed did you select? Do you have to go to the Rookie School? Fees are adding up, I think I'm in for $820 with shirts, patches, videos, training and run. I should pick the slower class to make it last longer.

I be there a couple days ahead of time also and prerun the course once or twice for fun.

Kelly,

The rookie School & Practice eliminates the Drivers Practice cost. So you only have to pay that 200.00 once. After you do the signup with a shirt and the other fun things probably closer to 650.00. Thats what I am in for. I made that mistake and they caught it. We are all in the slower (Flower sniffer) class. The GT will be just about idling in 6th gear at the minimum speed. One of my friends who went last year says you really do want to get there early and do the wednesday practice. He said that alone was worth the price of admission.

I might consider a navigator for my 200+ mph Camaro, although I am not sure they will let me run 200 at my first BBORR. The course looks like fun and I am studying a dvd of a 160+ mph run to prepare for the event.

Richard,

I do not think I have the "Cajones" to ride with someone else at those speeds. :frown I think I would need a man diaper before it was over!:eek
I do have a friend, if your serious, that was a navigator on a Audi Rally team that has expressed some interest! I thought he would be bored with me driving.
This race has a bunch of you tube video's also that may help you alittle.

Larry,

Yes, I would be interested in your friend's help. It is always nice to have someone there to point out the direction of the next turn. Because of the unmuffled exhaust we will most likely be communicating with hand signals.....

I think I have my navigator, a fellow GT member Darin (93extxdps) from TX. He's also going to take delivery of my new Trailex at his place, so I can swap out trailers on the trip. Booked hotel in Ft. Stockon, Comfort Suites. See you all there.

Navigator

This sounds like a blast.
Maybe we can take the DPS Mustang for the parade...
