I was asked to display my 2005 Ford GT at the 2018 Austin Auto Show. I’m wedged between the Ford Display and the Lincoln Display so I’m in great company.

I threw my 1971 Bronco in for good measure.

Yep...kinda hard to hide that one even among all the other beauties. :)

Interesting trend for car displays at an auto show. Privately owned cars displayed between two Corporate exhibits. Wonder who planned that footprint?

Well the people organizing the show told me Hyundai pulled out on Tuesday; which left two big spaces to fill. They decided to emergency fill the spaces with classic cars. I received the phone call requesting my GT at 6:30 pm Wednesday. I told them I’d be happy to display both my GT and Bronco. I was told to be there no later than 3:00 pm Thursday. So I had to detail two cars Wednesday night and get the fuel levels in the gas tanks down to 1/4 tank per the fire marshal code. I had a busy Wednesday night and Thursday morning.
I also offered them my 2018 F-150 Platinum Edition. They said, “no need Ford had that covered”.

Interesting, thanks for sharing that! Be prepared for LOTS of questions on the new Bronco, given your ‘71 on display!

Chris, call me next time! I could have brought the cobra r’s! Love your bronco and the GT looks cleeean!

If it were up to me, I definitely would have put you in the show but I have zero pull as to who gets to display. The whole thing was a 5 minute conversation and they were looking for a total of 10 cars. Next time I will definitely pass your information along.

How was the event?

It’s was good. Steady crowds all weekend long. Silverbullit showed up on Sunday to help drive one of the specialty cars home. Plus I think he set the day’s record on the Ford GT simulator. A LOT of people thought my 1971 Bronco was displayed on purpose by “Ford” to signal the upcoming debut of the new Bronco. I guess we can start calling it the NFB.

There is lots of online speculation on the future NFB.

So any reference to a Bronco, sets everyone off.

I suspect Ford is well aware of the enthusiasm.

That is really cool to have a mix of privately owned cars amongst the brand new corporate production cars.
