a real GT 40?

A friend and I were in Lemans last week at the shop of former racer Yves Courage, looking at the progress on a 962 powered racing car my friend is buying and saw this GT 40 there. Anyone recognize it?

Yup, it's real. Pics of it running at Goodwood...

They never grow old. Love the Gurney bubble!

Beautiful car!

Sweet!

Funny, it was just sitting there unprotected and lonely looking!!! (LOL) Amazing that such a valuable and famous car is just in a racing garage and not on display somewhere.

Any idea as to a best guess what its worth??

I believe that car was built in the 2000s using a left over chassis from the day.

maybe that is why it looked so clean and relatively new!

It looks like a Gulf blue without the orange. Is it missing the engine? Looks like no exhaust pipes coming out?

Google "GT40 p/1113"

the engine was in the blue one that I photoed in Yves Courage's shop

There is an original RHD GT40 up here in Canada at Legendary Motorcars that has just arrived. I have never seen an original. Apparently built in the 60s and campaigned. English bodied and ford powered as the originals were. Built as a road car and raced.
I studied this thing today and it is absolutely pure and true looking. Unbelievable and gorgeous.

They also have a red one LHD which is an English built continuation model of some kind. I have seen all sorts of “GT40 replicas” and to me, The replicas and continuations seem to somehow “miss the mark” if only by a few points.

Sorry, I did not think to take pics.

Best

Jeff

Blow up the photo of the rear end.
You'll see the pipes. ;-)

Is it going up for sale?

Is it going up for sale?

I believe the plan is to restore it and that’s what Dave told me.

Beautiful. I hope we can see it when the restoration is complete.
