A Question for our brethren in the UK

Just got back from a wonderful ten day trip to the UK, second time we've been, and the weather was wonderful. I have nothing but good things to say about your wonderful country. It was hard to leave, with the exception of the lousy exchange rate between the dollar and the pound.

We always do the self-drive tour when we travel, and this trip was no different. As we poked around Wales, Scotland and England, I was once again reminded just how incredibly narrow some of the roads can be, especially with parked cars on one or both sides. I was amazed that I didn't whack the mirrors off the wagon (estate) that we rented.

Anyway, the question: with the exeption of the motorway, how and where do you drive the extra wide GT in the UK? My wife got tired of hearing me wonder this aloud during our trip.

By the way, we spent three days in London, and it was an exotic car spotter's dream. Ferrari's out the ears, Lambos, Astons, Bentleys about as common as Cadillacs here, but no GT's. That a good thing, made me feel very exclusive. :wink

Glad you had a great time over here, Walter and that the weather was kind. Where do I drive the GT in the UK? Easy: down the motorway to the docks and the ferry to France!:lol

Well, I'll be darned.

Then France IS good for something after all... :skep

I am glad you enjoyed your stay in the UK, the only bummer is the exchange rate for you, although this is good for me when I go to America to stay with my brother in Fort Lauderdale. I live in the South West of England and there are more country roads in this part than anywhere. When I go out in the GT I plan my route, and only stick to the main roads, but it is like everything, you soon get used to it. You are right France is good for something, and I use it regularly to drive through to other Countries as I have no interest in stopping there.

Glad you enjoyed our modest isle... :wink

Narrow country roads are a bit of a no-go-zone, but average 'B' roads are generally OK. The trouble with low cars is that they look small, particularly to trucks and SUV's- it's only when you get close do you realise quite how wide they are. Near where I live are many single track roads - I wouldn't dream of taking the GT down them. So, as posted earlier, you tend to keep to the normal roads rather than the small country ones.... I owned a Murcielago for a while and that seemed worse somehow, I've not compared the widths between the two.
