R&T's speculation on the return of the Bronco. I hope they build this. I know both of my sons would be drooling over it, and I think Ford would sell a gazillion of them:

Include the ability to take the back lid off and it's a winner in my book.

:agree:

I Really hope Ford pulls the trigger on this... Especially a Red/White/Blue (Stroppe) Baja Bronco version.

I saw one of these with my son at a local car show. All my son could say was sign me up!

Given the $$ involved, and the demand, I don't see how Ford doesn't come back to the market with a modern version & not have it be a hit.

I read something about a UAW contract revealing that a new Ranger pickup and the Bronco would be made at the same plant. If true, that means the Bronco is Ranger-based.

I'm not a big fan of the styling that R/T shows. Hopefully they could come up with something a little more exciting. That looks a bit too much like the last generation which I thought got very long in the tooth. JMO.

Given how quickly and revolutionary they came with the NGT in, what, a year, this looks an awfully lot like a last generation 2 door Explorer, and 2020 is a long ways away.
I hope they can do better, sooner.

Yes it is

I love the new one and the originals. Would love to have one.

A small body-on-frame SUV from Ford would be very nice

Wonder if this will be a "Ford Performance Vehicle?" They have at least 7 more to go before 2020 so they need to get moving. LOL

Own a Jeep Rubicon only because Ford doesn't make something comparable. That Bronco would probably fit the bill!:thumbsup

And therein lies the problem, or challenge, as it may be. There is seemingly always the prevailing discussion inside an OE that one needs to 'protect' (provide for) for the 4 door derivative vs. a 2 door, so as not to lose potential customers. And ironically, once you do that, then there is the challenge of overlap with the existing, albeit larger, 4 door Explorer that is already selling quite well.

If I were responsible for product direction, the new Bronco would be a simple 2 door, C based platform, uni-body (to keep cost/weight down) construction vehicle, as true to the original design/utility as is possible. Where you often get in trouble with whitespace vehicles, is when you compromise the original vision and to try and meet all potential customers - you satisfy few.

An example of things that can happen when you go 4 door - kinda' loses its appeal:

Ford needs an appealing Body on Frame, rear drive, 4 door SUV to compete with GM the Expedition has been neglected and I don't like IRS for a HD tow vehicle. The Bronco is nice looking hence the suggestion, .

Why wait to 2020? That is a great looking SUV. That will outsell the competition!

There were about 250k wranglers built in 2015. I could not find the break down of 2 vs 4 doors, but by my eyeballs say, there are a LOT of 4 doors running around. The top peels off, so don't think it would bump into Explorer, also the Bronco, would be more hearty off road, as the Explorer is more of a SAV. I agree forcing packages into white spaces often isn't desirable (Prowler!!), but leaving gaping voids, like the Wrangler, or small pick ups (Tacoma or Colorado), could be solved with the one platform, yielding Bronco, and Ranger.

Of course I'm biased to want to see the Bronco came back.... and NOT as a Bronco II......

It needs to be a true Jeep competitor. Body on Frame utility.

We want big wheels, different lift heights, Plenty of room for big tires. Ford is so conservative. I don't know if the lawyers will let them go my direction!

Come on let's have some fun.

The Wrangler, for sure, has not stayed alive because of its cutting edge mechanical design......
