Here is some actual facts on recent sales from a very large auction house.
Note, White is unquestionably the color sold the most - not Red :biggrin

Auction prices are great and all, but you never really know what condition the car were in, etc. If those cars were in near perfect condition, I would pay those prices for every single one today! The FEW auctions I have gone to, there was not ONE SINGLE $100k plus car I would have purchased as everyone I have seen at auctions are LESS THAN PAR cars. Not to say that there are no good cars at auctions, as I am sure that good cars go through now and then, I just have not personally seen them. Out of the thousands of different kind of cars I have bought and sold, 2 came from an auction and they were $40k cars

Also, another thing I wanna point out is that those are not acurate numbers for todays market. If you look at the dates, they are all old sales EXCEPT for one which was sold in October.

And that was the white w/ orange stripes GT that we all discussed.

I think you may have found my 2006 Tungsten car on the auction list! Although I bought it in April from an exotic car dealership in South Jersey, I know that they bought it from an auction. When I bought it, it had about 1580 miles. Look at the first car on the 2007 list above. .....I just checked my Carfax. Yes, it's my car, "sold at auction in Eastern Region", 3/28/2007, 1496 miles. Interesting to see what the dealer paid: $5K less than I paid him. Thanks for the info. What an unexpected find.

Completely appreciate your input and not trying to affect your business in any way. We all appreciate supporting vendors and are grateful for the great service you provide to this community.

My main intention of posting this was to try to scientifically track and plot the sales trends of these cars, including colors and so on. A side benefit, is the fact that Howard brings up in his response. When someone buys a used car, the GT included, we go through the usual emotions; Where did the selling party get the car, where was it originally sold, did someone here on the forum own it before, did I pay a fair price, what can the previous owner tell me etc.

The joking benefit is to dispel bad rumors with respect to Red cars. :biggrin:biggrin:biggrin

I know, I know.... We have all talked about the Red car issue. Simple fact is, RED CARS ARE POPULAR. RED CARS SELL. RED CARS AT THE CURRENT TIME COMMAND LESS MONEY THAN SAY, BLACK or BLUE or Heritage and so on.

I for one have never said that red cars dont sell, BUT, It is fact that the red color was produced higher than any other color. And I would agree that white is in a close second.

Simple thing. Most of you guys here have a RARE BIRD. A car that is less than 2 years old that seems to be holding its value OR going up a little. Most people have to wait YEARS on a car for that to happen (if it ever happens). The FORD GT at this point in time seems to be the best of both worlds. One of the BEST driving exotics under $400k IMHO, Does not lose THOUSANDS OF DOLLARS a month in depreciation, Cheap services, etc. Damn, maybe ford should go into the exotic business! LOL
:banana

Be nice, nothing wrong with that car and the new owner might become a member here. Please!:wink

Shelby brings a perspective of a sucessful, respected dealer. He was checked out before we allowed him to become a sponsor. He understands the super car market and we can all learn from him. He is very open about what he is doing. Thanks.

:usa Thanks Bony!

If he keeps up this rant about red cars, there just may be some "red" necks pay him a visit.

I sense a little hostility???
If anyone thinks that I am knocking red cars I definatly am NOT. As I have stated, Red is a color I prefer. I give! RED CARS ARE EQUAL TO ALL OTHERS! All FGT are equal

Out of 18 cars (4 have no prices) on cars.com, the avg asking price calculated was $179.5K. The car (any car) is worth what the buyer is willing to pay for it:biggrin

Agree with Junior.

I recently bought a car from Shelby.

It had a few miles but was the color I wanted and he was close enough to me where I could actually inspect the car before I purchased it. With 5000 miles, it was according to some reviews I have read, properly broken in and actually stronger than new. It also was in showroom condition.

After observing the market for 4 months, I think I paid a fair price for my dream car. That's all that counts.

I might have saved a few thousand with an auction car, but I was doing this just once. I wanted it to be right.

And by the way, I admire ALL Ford GTs in all colors, they ALL KICK ASS!

I did notice that the Red cars seem to be bringing pretty good money, definately more than the White ones and just as good as the rest of the colors!:wink

As these are all auction sales as opposed to private party transactions, my first question would be ... do the prices as listed include the 10% buyer's premium? If not, add about $15k to each price. usmcfred

Good question, I really do not know. I think there is a sales fee that is based on the $ value.

And you give me crap Doc being a displaced yankee.......

Keep going everybody - Franky will light up like a back lit thermometer if we keep going. :rofl

Hey guys. Color is soooo subjective. One of the most sought after GTs is the Heritage but there are guys who don't like the Heritage just as there are guys that do.

ShelbyElite makes a great point. Think about it. Only 4000 of these babies were made. According to stats 10% have moved on to that big race track in the sky leaving approximately 3400 cars world wide. I would suspect 100 or so cars were shipped out of the country (don't know exact figures). I have spoken to various exotic dealers who have told me more and more cars are starting to be shipped out of the country.

So lets say there is 3,300 GTs in the country. I don't know who many cars are in the U.S. but I'd say "millions". So the total percentage of GTs is what....who's good with math here????

Point in fact they are rare cars. How often do you see one (other then yours) when your not hanging out with other owners or in venues such as car shows where one might make an appearance.

You have only 3,300 of these things left on the planet and the owners here have one (some lucky bastards here have more then one). Think about it. Also can you honestly say the there is a color produced the car does not look great in????? I can't.

I don't think that whether a GT is red, blue, white, etc... it will matter much as far as value especially as years pass. The only real thing that will matter is that its a Ford GT. :cheers
