First oil change

After my first 1800 miles and first track course experiences, I decided to do the first oil change. Thanks to DBK's pdf copy of the general procedure and other very helpful posts of yours, I could manage it within approx. one hour sucessfully :thumbsup
I guess the next time it will be much faster. If you have the right lift, tools and instructions this is a quite easy procedure. Only the 600 bolts which one has to remove and reinstall with the body panels are quite enoying :rofl Please find some pictures below what you may find (especially where you find the 3 oil drain plugs), if you plan to do your first oil change yourself.

This was the good part - the bad one - I found an oil leak :eek

Now my question for the specialists: After removing the body panels, I saw a little oil leak between the engine and gearbox (see pictures below). Not much though but enough that it concerns me... This should not happen with a new car after 1800 miles, not? Has anybody an idea what could cause this oil leak and is this something I should work on NOW or should I do "watchfull waiting"? I guess to solve it would be a much bigger deal than the oil change... As the clutch is located in the same area, could this oil leak damage the clutch (oil/slip/heat/burn ->new clutch?) Any thoughts?
Thanks
Desi

Desi, that looks worrying. I'm not technical so can't give you any insight - maybe email those pics off to Roush in the UK and have them give you a view? Neil.

Desi-
From the photo the leak doesn't look too bad. Was there oil in the under tray when you removed it?

Desi,

Is yours an earlier '05 car? If so, this might be the known rear main seal problem. I believe there is a service bulletin to correct it under warranty.

His car is Tungsten, can't be an '05

Hi Neil,
do you have a contact person and e-mail adress at Roush ?
Thanks
Desi

Not much. I guess several drops dispersed to a hand size oil-dust mix. No oil puddle. Nevertheless, it will be not less in the future... I guess I will contact Roush as NEILDA suggested!

I don't think that it is enough to get on the clutch at this time. Replacing the rear main oil seal is pretty invasive although for the Roush guys it is no big deal. It will be interesting to see what they say.

TSB on Rear Crankcase Oil seal

This is a TSB on this for 2005's. But an engine is an engine.

Desi - I PM'd you about getting the TSB.

Desi - I will PM you the contact....

Have a look on the passenger side of the transmission for the vent. There's a good possibility that the oil spewed out from here, especially after it heating up a little more than usual - on the track. My 2006 did the same thing with 2800 miles on it under similar circumstances. The oil / fluid stain did show itself at the outside bottom of the transmission body right where it meets the engine as well as up the passenger side of the transmission near the half shaft. There was no evidence of leakage at the clutch / flywheel area upon viewing that gap via the opening at the bottom of that union.

Similarily I learned of this situation only upon getting the cars first oil change which exposed the oil on the inside of the engine covers.
