Maybe it looks better in person. It doesn't excite me.

Different strokes I guess. I'm ambivalent about the road car. I love what it's capable of, not really sold on it's looks. But if the road car looked like this GT3 version, WOWS. Maybe it's just because to me, this GT3 car looks so much better. I think it's what the road car should have been. My $0.02 anyway.

I think it looks great, and I predict it will go like stink when they race it.

I agree. This seems to solve the perceived bland design of the road car.

And now maybe a road-going version of the GT3 car? That would be awesome!!!

Very hot looking - not to mention $512,000 or so.

Reading that, methinks the $512k is for a customer GT3 RACECAR. They also mention a "road-going version". 2 separate paragraphs that I read as two separate cars. I sure hope so anyway. I'd love to see one of these on the street after it comes out of my own garage! LOL

QUOTED FROM THE ARTICLE:

"In addition, executives are hinting that a roadgoing version of the just-announced MP4-12C GT3 racecar is in the pipeline.

Managing Director Antony Sheriff says that the company won't be offering the extensive variations on the MP4-12C that Porsche does with its 911. Instead, it will meet specific customer needs with a few derivatives, "but won't over-egg it."

McLaren will build 20 GT3 racecars for customers, and reckons that it offers a very competitive package with properly organized backup and spare parts for the $512,000 list price."

I'm with you Ed.... I have seen the road car on several occasions and it's not wild enough for my tastes. Looks a bit like a grown up Lotus. Beautifully made, fantastically engineered and goes like snot, but is a little bland.

The battle (over here) will be between the 458 and the MP4 - in sheer 'wow' factor the 458 has it beaten. I've driven the 458 and I can't imagine wanting the MP4 afterwards.
