First DIY Service on our GT - Advice?

Hey guys, I’m planning to do my first service on my GT over the winter and want to make sure I don’t miss anything. The car has 47K miles, and I’ve owned it for about three years, but with the other cars in the stable, it only gets around 600 miles of exercise per year. I originally planned to...

    Oil -- Valvoline VR1 Racing??

Thank you for the excellent information @PeteK ! I haven't put that many miles on it since the last change, so I am probably jumping the gun on changing it. With all the recommendations from manufactures of "change at X miles or X amount of time," I just figured it is time. Again, great...

    Oil -- Valvoline VR1 Racing??

I use Valvoline VR1 Racing oil in all our older cars mainly for the ZDDP. Wondering if anyone is using in the FGT? I heard that Motorcraft decreased the ZDDP, don't know if it's true.

    Magnetic Drain plugs

Getting ready to change oil and will be adding the easy drain set up from the GT Guys and would also like to swap out engine drain plugs for magnetic plugs. Wondering what size magnetic plugs I need and maybe if anyone has a recommendation for where to get them from. Thanks.

    Wheel cribs for oil change

Super easy. Used the jack points that align with the B pillar (blue circles) and did one side at a time. You do the first blocks on one side, and then do 2 blocks on the other. Come back around to the first side and jack it up more to add the final 2 blocks. Here is a link that gives an idea of...

    Wheel cribs for oil change

Getting ready to change the oil. Bought some wheel cribs from RaceRamps figuring stability and being able to remove under tray easier. A 4-post lift would be nice, but for now... just thought I'd share

When storing for winter -- Start it up or let it sit?

When storing for 4-5 months, is it better to fire it up every 2 weeks and let it idle un-driven for 10-15 minutes, or just let it sit?

Determining Agree Value on Higher Mileage '05 FGT

We are currently insured through Classic Auto Insurance after seeing the recommendations on this forum. We have an agreed value of $300K and this is the maximum we were told is possible because of the miles on our car. The agent said he spoke with their GT specialist and he said, "miles on these...

    Changing the oil

Thank you. I will search for a diagram or pic of the jack points. These are the jack stands I use: ESCO 10498 Jack Stand, 3 Ton Capacity, Silver, 21.5" https://a.co/d/5ZrNqxs ... am I understanding correctly that hockey pucks should be placed on top (so drill through the top and inset a bolt?)...

    Changing the oil

I change the oil in our cars and do some minor wrenching here and there, but don't have a lift. Looking at the GT, it seems a bit sketching getting it up on jack stands using a floor jack. Without a lift, am I just out of luck?
