    New Shelby GT500(?)

Later in the thread it's clarified that "TT" stands for "Tooling Trial" and not "Twin Turbo". 0.02

    Ford GT Wind Tunnel Testing

Wind Tunnels (scale models, rolling roads, static full scale) and CFD have different strengths/weaknesses, and are used to cross-reference and validate each other. You can't rely 100% on one.

2017 911 GTE Car in Action

So... not only did they ditch the MacPherson strut in the road car in favor of a unequal length upper/lower A-arms (like a proper car), but they are now ditching the rear -engine layout in favor of mid-engine? I guess the 911s DNA isn't "ideal" after all. I wonder if the road cars will follow...

24 Hours of Le Mans 2016

Maybe I should have specified: cars with big REAR polar moments...are less stable. Large polar moments have more resistance to change of direction, which on the REAR makes for an unstable and more difficult car to drive since once that weight starts to rotate, it's difficult to get it to stop...

24 Hours of Le Mans 2016

It's. A bit dangerous to believe in the misconception to "keep your foot in it" when the back end steps out. I've seen a ton of cars spun & crashed from this. While staying on the throttle keeps weight on the rear (for grip and stability), if the rear tires are already sliding and especially...

24 Hours of Le Mans 2016

Cars with big polar moments of inertia (Porsche with a big heavy engine sticking far out the back of the car) are inherently less stable. It's like throwing a backwards dart in a way. Once you get that weight moving (rotating in a corner) it's difficult to stop it, which is why older Porsches...

24 Hours of Le Mans 2016

The rearward weight bias and distribution really helps them put power down in the wet. Early 911s were quite tail happy and over the decades, Porsche has calmed this poor engine placement down to be more stable, refined, faster, and safer to drive. Modern 911s can still oversteer on entry but...

Ford and Ferrari Hit With Performance Penalties At LeMans

The rules were more open back then, but as the years go on, the sanctioning bodies seem to tighten and regulate every aspect of the car to the point where today, every nut and bolt is "homologated".

24 Hours of Le Mans 2016

Real bummer the 66 stopped to fix their lights and lost 2 laps. Should have been a Ford 1-2-3

Fchat has their views on BOP

^lol. They had a blatant requirement to fix their leaderboard light AND they were also given a stop and go penalty for not coming in... yet they were allowed to keep their second place position. Their pace was right there with the Fords... it should have been a Ford 1-2-3 again.

    New LeMans bop adjustments

I hope you're right. Either way the GTE class is some of the most competitive sports car racing in the world with great teams, cars & drivers. Should make for an exciting race nonetheless.

Ford GT Owner VIP Hospitality at the 2016 24 Hours of Le Mans

I think the shut down the track multiple times during the week (especially early in the week and after qualifying) - and open up the public roads. It's pretty easy to drive the Mulsanne, park and check out (or drive) the chicanes, Indy-Arnage, and the straight leading up to the Porsche curves...
