    Smog / drive cycle

I got tired of the old links and the quality of the new search links that give a "drive it for a while" but don't address the specific test sequences. I extracted the drive cycle from the 2006 Ford GT Service Manual and posted it here...

    Check your vacuum lines

Which I extracted and posted here: https://www.fordgtforum.com/forums/threads/ford-gt-emissions-readiness-drive-cycle.39317/ I got tired of stale links or the introductory detail-less generic cycles that were referenced elsewhere and extracted the service manual version.

Ford GT Emissions Readiness Drive Cycle

Whenever you remove the battery (unless you plug in the charger first) or clear a "Check Engine" light code, the emissions readiness tests must be run again. The monitors check for presence and operation of critical engine emissions systems, e.g., O2 sensors, catalytic converter, EGR system...

I think the removal of the fenders is overkill. Indeed you need to get access to the bottom of the windshield but in looking at it a long time ago my feeling was that you'd loosen the fender from the car but might not need to fully disconnect all the electrical and other attachments. The idea...

    Check your vacuum lines

The one from obdii.com seems to take forever, as does the basic site. Don't know what's going on and if it's permanent or temproary. Nonetheless the manualslib version is the same. Google search for "Ford emissions drive cycle" shows many more.

    Smog / drive cycle

The easiest way is to just do a 10 mile drive in varying conditions (in Vegas I just went for a loop that included a short freeway jaunt). Then connect the OBDII reader and see which ones haven't cleared and then use the drive cycle portions to specifically target those that aren't set. The...

Children's cancer event - spun my GT

I would never take a passenger on a hot lap. Too many things can go wrong and almost all of them end up with them having every you own and more. Fun and feels good when it turns out well until it doesn't. Glad it ended well but remember the pucker moment. They're bad enough when you're...

    Check your vacuum lines

Follow the drive cycle doc step by step. Then specifically target the steps for the ones it missed.

    Check your vacuum lines

Did you have to run the whole drive cycle to get all of the obdii tests clear?

American Pride in honor of 9/11

I was watching the Today show before taking a shower and the Today show broke for the news of the first crash. Then while the host - can't remember her name - was talking and not paying attention the camera that was on the fire on the first tower recorded the second plane hit the other tower...

    California Insurance Suggestions

Did you go through Drew? I'd not heard they had withdrawn from CA but wouldn't be surprised as many companies are, but I think Drew had other options. With two GTs you might qualify for the Barrett Jackson sponsored. They used to have AIG Private Client but now do some others.

And while you're checking the Ford system also check to see that the air bag recalls were done. You can check online with your VIN.

New owner has questions and has needs

Another thing you should check on. The transaxle bolts fail and if haven't been replaced, need to be. Have your Ford dealer (or someone with connections if you know someone) check the Ford system for warranty and other work that has been done. The Ford kit may not be available but someone...

New owner has questions and has needs

I call them consumables. I think perhaps a better description would be "wear items", tires, batteries, struts, oil, etc. Ahhh! Another thing. Depending on service records, you should probably replace EVERY liquid thing in the car. Oil, coolant (both engine and intercooler), transmission...

New owner has questions and has needs

Thanks! Yes, this refreshed my memory. The "door open" light can come on from EITHER the rear clamshell or Frunk lid. So many people treat these thinks like it's a Ferrari or made from gold and set the thing down and then "push" to latch. Bolderdash. Bring the clamshell down to 4-6...
