Stock is too quite, I think cat back is really too loud (guess I'm getting old). But it's not a problem for the car or engine.

I wouldn't say they are selling out at all. I am not happy with my Tesla, but it IS very fast. Testing the water and getting some knowledge and experience now could add a lot of potential performance down the road. If they ultimatly go for a capacitor type solution that charges up at a stop...

The tesla's are supposed to be totally silent and don't have any added 'noise-makers', other than the owner cursing at it. But in truth, all the noisy fans, squeaks and such make plenty of noise. A plug in prius probably will be too quite.
