    Raptor experiences

And now you know one of the reasons why the 6.2 is going away. While it performs well, it is less efficient than the V10 it was designed to replace. That and longevity issues are why the V10 is still in production and sold in the medium duty range of trucks and chassis. My 40ft motorhome...

    Takata airbag recall

GTs sold in Texas when looked up by VIN are still showing no recalls on fordowner.com (not mine, it was sold in MI but lives in TX)

    Takata airbag recall

Ford is only recalling the GTs that were originally sold in specific counties of those states listed. IE a very small number. The air bags are all the same and makes no allowance for where the GTs actually reside. My guess is that the recall will eventually expand to cover all units but there...

Be easy on me- I can't keep my clamshell up

The OEM struts are not specific to the GT but I forget what else they fit. Point is they are not THAT overpriced for OEM Ford and they 'just fit' I tried the generic replacements from StrongArm and ended up hanging them up in the garage and ordering the Ford ones.

Any news on the next SVT mustang

Interesting the new flat plane crank 5.2 is not direct injected. No wonder a TT version is not in the works for the new GT, its too far away in development. When Ford said there would be no ecoboost V8s, they meant it.....

    Suggestions for pneumatic tools....

Thanks for the model numbers to search for. That's what I needed and those are indeed the kind of impact I would need. The IR was just the only thing I had found close to the specs for the pneumatic one I wish to retire. I almost never use an impact to drive a bolt or nut except on specific...

    Suggestions for pneumatic tools....

I was looking at cordless impact wrenchs. 1/2 inch, 600ft lbs or more to replace my pneumatic IR 2131 that I have used for many years. Looked at DeWalt and Milwaukee and both of them fall short of the goal. IR has a cordless rated at 750 but its $600 and I'm not sure on IR's reputation on...

    Car broken just before rally

Just a question, but is it considered normal for a Whipple to go though 3 drive belts in 11,500 miles? I do not have a Whipple, just the stock SC. Changed the original SC drive belt when I installed the smaller pulley. It had 13k then +/- and 24k now. That original belt looked fine as does...

    Suggestions for pneumatic tools....

Sears sells two lines. Sears and Craftsman. Only the Craftsman HAND tools have the lifetime warranty. IE not air tools, not air driven impact sockets, not torque wrenches. Hand tools. Back to air tools. I bought the full set over the years. The only ones I use anymore are the 1/2 impact...

Neat new nighttime photo of my GT

Sorry, I am not the photographer. The camera was a BAN (Big @$$ Nikon) and yes he used a couple lights behind him with umbrella looking reflectors on them to help bring out the blue. The 'streaks' of light are some sort of camera trick and multiple exposures. Bout all I can tell you but I was...

Neat new nighttime photo of my GT

This photo was taken back in Aug with the Dallas skyline at night as a backdrop. Just got the final version from the photographer and thought I would share.

    Spotless Water Sytem

Xcentric is right, its a kitchen counter distiller, I keep it in the garage. Mine has a clear plastic receptical, not glass but otherwise very similar to this one: http://www.amazon.com/Water-Distiller-Countertop-Enamel-Collection/dp/B00026F9F8 Its made a couple hundred gallons so far and...

    Spotless Water Sytem

The with vs without spot free rinse step when washing my GT is very pronounced. With the spot free rinse, it really does not matter how long I take to dry the car, it does not spot. On my truck, I dont bother drying at all other than blowing the excess water off with the air hose. I tried...

    Spotless Water Sytem

I never liked the cost per gallon for those resin based systems. Went with a distilled water maker and rinse with that. TDS reads 0. Costs a few cents per gallon in electric but no where near the cost of the resin. Does a great job of spot free rinse, also use it for hot water/air-sol...

    270 mph electric motorcycle!

For the foreseeable future, the plug in hybrid is the only practical version. Larger capacity batteries and faster charging times will continue to improve them but they will not get to the current level of usability of gas engine vehicles until significant change in technology comes along and...

    Oil analysis recommendations

Wix and Amsoil have contracted labs and sell sample kits too. I have used Blackstone for years and been very pleased with the work, and down to earth recommendations they give on each analysis. Kits are free, you pay when they do the work.

    Property taxes on FGTs

Wow, about $90 here in Texas, plus $32 for emissions/safety inspection (stickers go away in Feb). No income tax. My property taxes run about $2k a year. Sales tax is 8.1% but not on food, drugs or labor.

Dash and Interior Leather Care Question

No, the dash cover is real leather, not vinyl. And if its properly cared for does not shrink. I used Lexol for years, it is a great product for preserving leather and does work well. Couple years ago tried Zaino leather in a bottle and it seems to work as well or better than Lexol, is easier...
